MSP Reports for St. Mary's Co.


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 19, 2015)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: On Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 08:05 am, Tpr. Artis responded to the 23000 block of Jasmine Way in California for a reported theft. Tpr. Artis made contact with the complainant, who advised that items had been stolen from two unlocked vehicles on the property. The case remains open pending further investigation. (15-MSP-042293)

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER: On Monday, November 6, 2015 at 9:25 am, Tpr. Artis responded to the 28000 block of Mechanicsville Road for a report of a violation of protective order. Investigation revealed that Shannon Leigh Nelson, 39, of Mechanicsville, was at the residence in direct violation of an active protective order. Ms. Nelson was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was charged appropriately and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. DRUG ARREST: On Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 8:25 am, TFC Couter initiated a traffic stop on a gold passenger car on Hermanville Road at Dixon Court for a minor traffic violation. TFC Couter made contact with the driver, Michael Anthony Aikens, 23, of Leonardtown, and detected the strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. TFC Couter observed marijuana in plain view in the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted. The probable cause search resulted in the recovery of five individually wrapped baggies of cocaine as well as paraphernalia commonly used in the distribution of CDS. Mr. Aikens was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of CDS: Not Mariuana, and CDS Possession of Paraphernalia. He was also charged with CDS Marijuana Less than 10 Grams on a civil citation. Mr. Aikens was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. (15-MSP-042689)

BURGLARY: On Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 2:00 am, Tpr. Manning and Tpr. Krenik responded to the 23000 block of Colton Point Road in Avenue for a reported burglary. The owner of the residence was notified, and the case remains open pending further investigation. (15-MSP-042822)
