Drug Arrests in St. Mary's Co.


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (October 20, 2015)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Vice Narcotics Division today released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007.

COCAINE & HEROIN: Vice/Narcotics detectives received information regarding a home in Hollywood being used as a drug distribution point for heroin. A search and seizure warrant was obtained for the residence, located in the 44000 block of Clarke's Landing Road, and executed with the assistance of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, K-9 deputies and Narcotics Support Team Officers. Detectives arrested Tina Renee Hancock, age 46, Charles Patrick Hancock, age 20, Thomas Allen Proffer, age 31, and Kenneth Leon Smythers, age 56, all of Hollywood. Suspect Tina Hancock was arrested and charged with possession of heroin. Her son, Charles Hancock was charged with possession of cocaine and heroin and Suspect Proffer was charged with possession of heroin and related paraphernalia. Suspect Smythers, the home owner, was charged with possession of cocaine and illegal possession of a "sawed off" shotgun. Additional charges and arrests are pending a review with the state's attorney.

FRAUDULENT PRESCRIPTIONS: Vice/Narcotics detectives received information regarding Charles David Burch, Jr., age 25, of Lusby, and his girlfriend were passing a fraudulent prescription for oxycodone at a Great Mills pharmacy. Detectives observed the suspect make contact with a second suspect, Leondre Darrius Commodore, age 25, of Lusby, and receive money before entering the pharmacy. Suspect Burch presented that money in his attempt to illegally obtain the prescription for oxycodone. As deputies approached, Suspect Commodore they observed him discard an item. That item was retrieved and found to be Xanax pills. Three cellular phones were seized as well. Both suspects were arrested and charged. Additional charges against the listed suspects, as well as others, are pending a case review with the state's attorney.

DRUG DISTRIBUTION, CHILDREN REMOVED FROM HOME: Vice/Narcotics Division received several complaints regarding two homes in the 21000 block of Enterprise Road and the possibility of the distribution of drugs. Detectives were able to confirm drug dealers and users were traveling between the two homes and search and seizure warrants were obtained for both residences. Emergency Services Teams from St. Mary's and Charles Counties, Vice/Narcotics Support Team deputies and K-9 deputies executed two simultaneous search and seizure warrants on the target homes.

Deputies encountered deplorable conditions in one of the homes to the extent Child Protective Services was contacted, responded and removed the children. Charges are pending against the occupants of that home. Upon searching the home next door, detectives found a variety of pain medications (Oxycontin and Oxycodone) as well as Adderall. The street value of the pills seized was nearly $3,000. Suspect Lisa Marie West, age 46, of Lexington Park, was arrested on the scene and charged accordingly. Both homes were being subsidized through the St. Mary's County Department of Housing, who was notified of the violations. Detectives will continue to assist them in their ongoing investigation. Additional charges and arrests are pending a review with the state's attorney.
