Dog Adoption Fees Waived on Aug. 26

Help celebrate National Dog Day by adopting a loyal companion. The Tri County Animal Shelter is waiving all dog adoption fees on Wednesday Aug. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. If you can’t adopt a dog then celebrate by volunteering at the shelter, donating dog food or toys, or bringing special treats for the animals.

The Tri-County Animal Shelter is located at 6707 Animal Shelter Road in Hughesville. Shelter staff can be reached at 301-932-1713 or 800-903-1992. Adoption hours are Monday-Friday, noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Charles County Commissioners’ August Town Hall Meeting Schedule

The Charles County Commissioners invite the public to attend August town hall meetings as scheduled below. The purpose of Commissioner town hall meetings is to take questions from those in attendance and to discuss items of importance to the citizens and the community.

Planning Commission to Hold Additional Meeting Aug. 31

The Planning Commission voted to add an additional meeting date to their August schedule to allow further discussion on the draft Comprehensive Plan. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m., in the Commissioners’ meeting room at the Charles County Government Building (200 Baltimore Street, La Plata).
