Administrative Appointments Announced
Superintendent of Schools, Mr. J. Scott Smith, announced the administrative appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of August 12, 2015.
Dr. Elizabeth Beasley has been appointed Supervisor of Human Resources in the Department of Human Resources. Dr. Beasley joined St. Mary's County Public Schools in 1987 as a special education teacher at Leonardtown High School. Since 1999, she has been a school counselor at Esperanza Middle School. She has also served as principal of Evening High School and summer school. Dr. Beasley earned her Doctorate degree from Walden University, her Master's degree from Bowie State University, and her Bachelor's degree from Illinois State University.
Ms. Rachel Sparks has been appointed Human Resources Coordinator I in the Department of Human Resources. Since joining St. Mary's County Public Schools in 2005, she has taught at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School where she has also served as department chair. Ms. Sparks earned her Master's degree from Towson University and her Bachelor's degree from University of Maryland University College.
Ms. Denise Mandis has been appointed Supervisor of Instruction: Academy Programs and Advanced Placement in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Professional Development. Since joining St. Mary's County Public Schools in 2001, she has taught special education at Park Hall Elementary School and English at Leonardtown High School. She most recently served as an Assistant Principal at Park Hall Elementary. Ms. Mandis earned her Master's and Bachelor's degrees from George Mason University.
Ms. Marissa Kinkaid has been appointed Assistant Principal (11 month) at Park Hall Elementary. She has taught English/Language Arts and served as department chair at Spring Ridge Middle School since joining St. Mary's County Public Schools in 2010. Ms. Kinkaid earned her Master's degree from Towson University and her Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University.
These appointments will become effective Monday, August 17, 2015.
