La Plata Police Department Activity Report


LA PLATA, Md. (May 8, 2015)—The La Plata Police Department today released the following activity report. It is intended to give an overview of the criminal activity within La Plata and is not a complete listing of all events and crime reported to the department.

DISORDERLY: On May 7 at 0234 hours, officers responded to 5 Garrett Avenue for the report of a disorderly subject. Investigation revealed that the individual involved was loud and disorderly in a general seating area which had drawn the attention of staff and patients. The individual was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE - XANAX/THEFT: On May 6 at 1204 hours, officers responded to 40 Drury Drive for the report of a theft. While enroute to the call officers were informed that the suspect was leaving the area towards the Van-Go Stop with an air compressor. Officers located the suspect with the air compressor. Subsequent search located two hypodermic syringes and 24 baggies of prepackaged Xanax (2mg). The suspect was charged with possession with intent to distribute, theft and possession of a hypodermic syringes.

PRESCRIPTION FRAUD: On May 5 at 1447 hours, an officer responded to 40 Shinning Willow Way for the report of a prescription fraud. Investigation revealed that at 1400 hours a female came to pharmacy and attempted to fill a prescription for Phenegran/Codeine. When the pharmacist called the issuing doctor, it was discovered the prescription was fraudulent. When confronted by the pharmacist the suspect to fled the store.

SUSPICIOUS CALL: On May 5 at 1320 hours, an officer responded to the 600 block of Currant Court for the report of a suspicious call. Investigation revealed that the suspect informed the victim that she owed the IRS $10,000. The suspect attempted to persuade the victim to pay the back taxes to a bank account. The victim immediately hung up and reported the incident.

THEFT FROM AUTO: On May 4 at 0800 hours, an officer responded to the 100 block of Lancashire Court for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed that suspect(s) unknown rummaged through two of the victim's unsecured vehicles and removed personal items.

THEFT FROM AUTO: On May 4 at 0719 hours, an officer responded to the 1000 block of Norfolk Drive for the report of a theft. Investigation revealed that suspect(s) unknown rummaged through the victim's unsecured vehicle and stole loose change.

DUI ARREST: On May 4 at 0040 hours, an officer responded to 601 Charles Street, Dash In, for the report of an individual passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed the individual was passed out and difficult to awaken. Field sobriety tests were administered and sufficient clues observed to indicate the driver was under the influence of an intoxicant. A prescription for suboxin was located in the vehicle. The driver was charged with driving under the influence of drugs.

ASSAULT - DOMESTIC RELATED: On May 3 at 0136 hours, officers responded to the 300 block of Harford Street Unit for the report of a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed that as the first officer arrived on the scene he could hear an active assault occurring. Once inside officers observed obvious signs of injury to the victim and arrested the suspect, who was under the influence of intoxicants. The suspect was charged with domestic assault.
