Four Impaired Driver Crashes in Charles Co. Past Weekend


PIKESVILLE, Md. – This past weekend, April 24 through April 26, troopers from the Maryland State Police investigated 12 collisions involving suspected impaired drivers state-wide. One third of the crashes occurred in southern Maryland; more specifically Charles County.

These collisions in Charles County included:

-- Route 228 at Streamview Drive, Waldorf – 5:39 p.m. April 24 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was arrested.

-- Route 228 at Bunker Hill Road, Waldorf – 7:47 p.m. April 24 – Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was charged with DUI.

-- Route 488 at Hawkins Gate Road, La Plata – 4:45 a.m. – April 25 – A vehicle was traveling along MD 488 when the driver lost control and struck a cement wall. Driver was transported to an area hospital. Impairment was observed. Charges are pending.

-- Route 229 at Bic Pic Lane, Waldorf – 5:24 p.m. – April 26 – Troopers responded to an overturned vehicle. When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed. Field test was given and the driver performed poorly. Driver was arrested.
