PIKESVILLE, Md. This past weekend, April 24 through April 26, troopers from the Maryland State Police investigated 12 collisions involving suspected impaired drivers state-wide. One third of the crashes occurred in southern Maryland; more specifically Charles County.
These collisions in Charles County included:
-- Route 228 at Streamview Drive, Waldorf 5:39 p.m. April 24 Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was arrested.
-- Route 228 at Bunker Hill Road, Waldorf 7:47 p.m. April 24 Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash. The at-fault driver was found to be impaired and was charged with DUI.
-- Route 488 at Hawkins Gate Road, La Plata 4:45 a.m. April 25 A vehicle was traveling along MD 488 when the driver lost control and struck a cement wall. Driver was transported to an area hospital. Impairment was observed. Charges are pending.
-- Route 229 at Bic Pic Lane, Waldorf 5:24 p.m. April 26 Troopers responded to an overturned vehicle. When contact was made with the driver, impairment was observed. Field test was given and the driver performed poorly. Driver was arrested.
