Waldorf Man Finds $46,730 Lottery Luck at Buddy's Liquors

A Waldorf man who joined a crowd cheering on the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax horses as they headed for home said nary a word when the electronic thoroughbreds crossed the finish line. The reason? He won a record $46,730 with his Superfecta Wheel bet.

The self-employed father of one attributes some of his Lottery luck to experience playing the e-table game of Roulette at Maryland Live! Casino. The 47-year-old plays Racetrax periodically and said he began making Superfecta bets as soon as the Lottery added that option in April 2014.

For the Superfecta Wheel bet, our player had to select at least five horses to finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in exact order. He visited his Lottery retailer, Buddy’s Liquors in Indian Head, and placed a 10-cent base bet on four combinations of five to seven numbers for a total bet of $65.50 on one race. The winning numbers in his race were 8, 11, 10 and 12.

How did he pick his winning combination? “These numbers just came to mind,” he said.

Other top Maryland Lottery Racetrax wins include $45,776 on a ticket sold by Champagne Liquors in Hyattsville on Dec. 5, 2014 and a $44,967 Superfecta win on a ticket sold by Holiday Liquors in Waldorf on Aug. 8, 2014.

Our happy winner plans to pay bills with his prize. For selling the winning ticket, Buddy’s Liquors at 4611 Indian Head Highway in Indian Head will receive a bonus of $467 from the Lottery.
