Oath of Office Ceremony to be Rebroadcast

If you happened to miss live coverage of the 2014 Oath of Office Ceremony for Elected Officials on December 1, you will have two opportunities to watch the taped broadcast of the event this coming weekend.

St. Mary's County Government TV 95 (SMCG TV 95) will re-air the ceremony on Saturday, December 13 at 8 p.m. and again on Sunday, December 14 at 9 a.m.

SMCG TV 95 is available exclusively on Metrocast Cable. Those without access to Metrocast can view the live stream of the program on the SMCG TV 95 webpage at http://www.stmarysmd.com/broadcast.asp . Simply click on the LIVE link at the top of the page.

The Oath of Office ceremony will be scheduled for airing throughout the remainder of December at various times. To find out the exact date and time of the airing of this and other SMCG TV 95 programming go to http://www.co.saint-marys.md.us/95.asp .

Holiday Exhibit Now on Display at Piney Point Lighthouse Museum

A special holiday display is currently ongoing at the Piney Point Lighthouse, Museum and Historic Park in Piney Point. The exhibit is on display inside the museum, Potomac River Maritime building, and lighthouse keeper's quarters, a historic building not normally open to the public. The exhibit offers a military theme with authentic items from various war eras.

A free boy and girl's bike raffle is available thanks to the Second District Kids and Community organization and children's make-and-take activities are available inside the museum.

The Lighthouse Lens Museum Store is open featuring an array of unique gifts, lighthouse and nautical items, jewelry, clothing, home décor and children's items. Don't miss the pre-lit crab pot Christmas trees to decorate your home, yard, pier or boat! Museum gift memberships are the perfect gift for "the one who has everything" and provide a 10% discount on museum store items.

The museum and holiday exhibit is available now through December 19 - Thursday through Monday - 12 noon to 4 p.m. The extended holiday schedule includes December 21 to January 4, 2015, open daily 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Admission is $7 per adult, $3.50 for senior citizens, military personnel, and students 6 to 18. Children 5 and under get in free. Admission includes a guided tour of the museum and historic lighthouse campus.

The Piney Point Lighthouse, Museum and Historic Park is managed by the Museum Division of St. Mary's County Department of Recreation and Parks and the Commissioners of St. Mary's County. The museum is located at 44720 Lighthouse Road in Piney Point, MD. The museum, maritime exhibit and grounds are handicap accessible.

St. Clement's Island Museum Hosting 29th Christmas Doll and Train Exhibit

The St. Clement's Island Museum in Colton's Point, MD is playing host to the 29th Annual Christmas Doll & Train Exhibit. The museum is alive during the month of December with antique and collectible dolls, toys, and working miniature trains in a holiday setting, which is sure to delight children from one to 101.

This year's theme celebrates "Christmas by the Bay," and incorporates vignettes of the Bay's history and heritage, all in a holiday setting. The exhibit is made possible by the members of the Southern Maryland and Black-eyed Susan Doll Clubs and Maggie and Anthony Hammett.

Visitors can also enjoy browsing through the Crab Claw Museum Store, which features a myriad of unique gifts, children's books and toys, clothing, jewelry, Maryland flags and scarves, lighthouses, souvenirs, and even pre-lit crab pot Christmas trees, perfect for your home, yard, boat, or pier. All proceeds from museum store sales benefit museum programs, projects and exhibits. Become a museum member and receive a 10% discount any time you shop throughout the year!

A raffle for three fully-decorated Christmas trees is continuing through December 21. There is also a free raffle for a boy and girl's bike donated by the Optimist Club of the Seventh District. The winner could be you!
