George Nash Elected ABC Mid-Atlantic Region Vice Chair

LA PLATA—Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced that George R. Nash, Jr., Facchina Construction Co., Inc., La Plata, Md., was elected to serve as ABC’s Mid-Atlantic Region vice chair in 2015. Nash also currently serves as the chair of ABC’s national Political Action Committee and has more than 10 years of service at the chapter level, including serving as a mentor and advisor for ABC Metro Washington’s Leadership Development Program and as the chair of the ABC Metro Washington Chapter in 2010. Facchina has received recognition in ABC’s Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) and has won multiple ABC Excellence in Construction Awards.

“George’s more than 30 years of experience working in every facet of commercial construction will make him a great representative for his region and we are pleased that he will be joining the executive committee,” said ABC President and CEO Mike Bellaman. “His background and proven track record of leadership both within ABC and the industry makes him an important asset to the team.”

Nash currently serves as the director of business of development for Facchina Construction Company, Inc. Throughout his career he has worked in estimating, procurement, operations, preconstruction and business development and has managed a multitude of projects, ranging from small and large commercial buildings to public stadiums. He is also active in a variety of construction and community groups in addition to ABC, including serving on the Town of La Plata Green Building Committee from 2008 to 2010 and on the Charles County Chamber of Commerce Legislative Committee since 2012.

AMEWAS Awarded $22,500,000 Contract Modification by Navy

CALIFORNIA—AMEWAS, of California, Maryland, is being awarded a $22,500,000 modification to a previously awarded indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, cost plus fixed fee, firm-fixed-price, performance based contract (N00421-04-D-4011) to exercise an option for continuing engineering, manufacturing and technical support services in support of the Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test Department. Work will be performed in Patuxent River, Maryland, and is expected to be completed in May 2015. Fiscal 2015 research, development, test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $6,254,325 will be obligated at time of award, none of which expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
