Tri-County Council for So. Md. Celebrates 50th Anniversary


HUGHESVILLE, Md. (Nov. 13, 2014)—The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland (TCCSMD) hosted a gala event in celebration of its 50th Anniversary on Thursday, October 16th. The ticketed event was held at the Running Hare Vineyard in Prince Frederick.

The gala event featured a dinner and a short program of historical retrospectives highlighting the Council's accomplishments over the years in recognition of "50 Years of Helping Build Better Communities for the Southern Maryland Region," as well as recognition from its continued partnerships throughout the region. Guest speakers included, Senator C. Bernie Fowler, Mr. Thomas Dennison, SMECO, Mr. Eric Franklin, ERIMAX, Dr. Brad Gottfried, CSM, Mr. Bobby Swann and Senator Thomas V. Mike Miller.

Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland, was conceived by the State of Maryland to be a cooperative planning and development agency to foster the social and economic development of the Southern Maryland Region. John Hartline, Executive Director commented, "While looking back at the Council's 50 years is important, it is vital that we keep the momentum and use those accomplishments as a platform for the continued progress of Southern Maryland!" "I am so happy that the Tri-County Council is celebrating its 50 years of service to the Southern Maryland Region. It was wonderful to look back over the past 50 years and see all of the Council's accomplishments, and to see how instrumental the Council has truly been to helping to better the Southern Maryland Region," said Mary Lynn Stone, Executive Board Member and former Chair of the Council.

The event also included a basket raffle which raised $1,000 to benefit Farming 4 Hunger, whose sole focus is to serve the hunger community in Southern Maryland.
