Wildewood Shopping Center Sold for $28.4 Million

CALIFORNIA (October 22, 2014) - Scheer Partners, a full-service commercial real estate firm headquartered in Rockville, Md., announced today that it has negotiated on behalf of SJS Wildewood, LP for the sale of Wildewood Shopping Center in St. Mary's County.

The retail center is 292,000 square feet on 36 acres. Scheer Partners performed property management, construction management, and leasing functions at the property. Sandy Hunt, Senior Vice President of Investment Sales at Scheer Partners, represented the seller, and Finmarc Management, Inc., the purchaser, represented itself.

The center is currently 95 percent occupied and has four national anchors: JC Penney, Belk Department, and the recently opened Bed, Bath & Beyond. DSW Shoe Warehouse is scheduled to open October 23, 2014. There are 50 tenants at the center, including four pad sites leased to BB&T Bank, Outback Steakhouse, Cheeseburger in Paradise, and DB McMillan restaurant.

Located on Wildewood Boulevard, the prime entranceway into a PUD with over 3,000 homes, the center is one mile from the St. Mary's County airport. The average household income exceeds $110,000, with 20 percent growth predicted by 2020. St. Mary's County is the fastest-growing county in the State of Maryland.

Starbucks Now Open at St. Charles Towne Center

WALDORF—St. Charles Towne Center announced the recent opening of Starbucks to the shopping mall. The new kiosk, which debuted on Monday, September 29 in the Center Court, offers hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, microground instant coffee, full-leaf teas, pastries, snacks and more.

“We are thrilled to welcome Starbucks to our dining roster at St. Charles Towne Center!” said Cristina Montanez, director of marketing and business development at St. Charles Towne Center. “We strive to continually provide the best combination of options for our shoppers, and this world-renowned addition allows us to uphold that commitment.”

New T.J.Maxx to Open in Prince Frederick

T.J.Maxx, one of the nation’s largest off-price retailers with more than 1,000 stores currently operating in 49 states and Puerto Rico, will open a new store in Prince Frederick on October 26. Departments include fashion and accessories for the entire family and home, jewelry, beauty, pet accessories, toys and more.

Shoppers can celebrate the new store opening on October 26th starting at 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Reusable bags will be given to the first 1,000 customers.

The 24,400 square foot store is located in Calvert Village and will be open 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.

The new store is expected to add approximately 60 full and part-time jobs to the area.

In celebration of its new Prince Frederick location, T.J.Maxx will contribute to the surrounding community by presenting a $5,000 donation to Safe Harbor, Inc. at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 26th at 7:30 a.m. The new store will also join all other stores nationwide in sponsoring a child who participates in Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. T.J.Maxx also supports Save the Children, Autism Speaks and Joslin Diabetes Center with annual in-store fundraising campaigns.
