Former Employee Arrested for AMC Lowes Robbery

CALLAWAY, Md. (Oct. 2, 2014)—A former employee has been arrested and charged in connection with the Sept. 29 armed robbery of the AMC Lowes Theatre, located in Lexington Park. William Chinedu Ozah, 21, of Leonardtown, was identified as the suspect the following day by Tfc Reuschling from Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, Central South Region.

Police investigators say the theatre manager was walking to her vehicle around 10 p.m. when she was approached by an African American male with dreadlocks and a ski mask. The suspect brandished a handgun and ordered her back into the movie theater. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency and fled from the scene.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Ozah charging him with: Armed Robbery, First and Second degree Assault, Theft over $1,000.00 and Felon using a handgun in violation of a crime.

On Thursday at 12:30 a.m., in collaboration with the Maryland State Apprehension Team (MSAT), investigators from the Criminal Enforcement Division and patrol troopers from the MSP Leonardtown Barrack located Ozah at a residence in the Leonardtown area. Ozah was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing and released to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a hearing with the District Court Commission.

The investigation was conducted in collaboration with the St. Mary's County States Attorney's Office.
