Two Arrested for Arson to Vehicle & Insurance Fraud

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (September 23, 2014)—An ongoing investigation has lead to the arrest of two adult males for Arson Second Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Arson, and Insurance Fraud. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office has arrested Edward L. Sigmon, age 35, of Upper Marlboro, and Patrick L. Kreamer, age 35, of Waldorf, for intentionally setting fire to a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of May 4 in the area of Adams Willett Road and Hancock Run Road in Nanjemoy, Charles County. The fire was determined to incendiary in nature and completely destroyed the car valued at nearly $9,000.

Investigators obtained a grand jury indictment for Charles County Circuit Court leading to the arrest of Sigmon and Kreamer. On September 22, both individuals were taken into custody at the Charles County Sheriff's Office in Waldorf.

The Volkswagen Jetta was owned by Sigmon.

Investigators allege the fire was intentionally set for monetary gain from the insurance company.

Both were being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review by a Charles County Circuit Court judge.
