Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 9, 2014)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRIVER OF CAR CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF CRACK COCAINE: On September 8 at 11:27 p.m., PFC J. Garner attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Middletown Road and Lexington Drive in Waldorf for speeding. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The driver stopped in front of his residence in the 6100 block of Sirennia Place where he got out of the vehicle, ran into the backyard and attempted to go inside of his house. Officers ordered the suspect to the ground but the suspect refused. PFC Garner deployed his taser and was able to quickly apprehend the suspect. A search of the vehicle revealed the driver, Nisheen Martelle Stephens, 41, of Waldorf, was in possession of crack cocaine. Stephens was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, possession of crack cocaine, fleeing and eluding and was given several other citations. PFC Garner investigated.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: Sometime between September 7 and September 8, unknown suspects broke into Tires Plus on Smallwood Drive in Waldorf through a previously broken window which was secured by a 4x4. Once the suspects were inside, they cut a lock which led to the rear service area. Nothing is reported to have been stolen. PFC T. Morgan is investigating.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT: Sometime between September 5 and September 8, unknown suspects cut the rear chain link fence to Jimmys Towing on Irongate Drive in Waldorf to gain access to the tow lot. A blue 2000 Yamaha dirt bike was stolen off the lot. It is unknown at this time if anything else was stolen from any of the vehicles. PFC T. Morgan is investigating.

POSSESSION OF DRUGS AND HANDGUN: On September 7 at 3:44 a.m., officers responded to Ashford Circle in Waldorf for the report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, officers located a suspicious vehicle. The front and rear seat passengers exited the car and attempted to walk away while the driver remained in the vehicle. Officers made contact with the driver as well as the passengers that exited the car. Investigation revealed that one of the passengers, Kevin Michael Kinter, 22, of Waldorf was in possession of marijuana and a loaded handgun. The driver, Catharine Covert Kirby, 41, of Reston, Virginia, was in possession of drugs and paraphernalia. Kirby was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kinter was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. PFC M. Kelly investigated.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE: On September 5 at 1:48 a.m., PFC D. Graham attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 210 near Cedar Lane in Indian Head. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended a short distance later when the driver jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled on foot. A perimeter was established and a canine track was attempted but the suspect was not located. The suspect was later seen near Henderson Place in Indian Head. A new perimeter was established and Maryland State Police assisted with a search of the wooded area between Henderson Place and Route 210. The suspect, described as a black male, between 5'8" and 6'0" with a dark complexion, wearing jeans and a black shirt, was not located. Investigation revealed the vehicle was reported stolen through Prince George's County on September 1. PFC Graham is investigating.

THEFT: On September 5 at 12:28 p.m., officers responded to the Bank of America on Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned the victim was walking to the bank with a bank bag to make a deposit when a suspect approached the victim, took the bag and fled on foot to a waiting vehicle. A canvass of the shopping center was conducted but the suspect was not located. Det. G. Higgs is investigating.

BURGLARY: Sometime between 6:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 4, unknown suspects used a rock to break the rear window to a residence on Keepsake Place in Waldorf. Once inside the residence, the suspects stole several pairs of Jordan shoes, a watch and cash. The suspects fled from the scene through the rear sliding door of the residence. A canvass of the neighborhood was conducted but the suspects were not located. Cpl. R. Gottschall is investigating.

CRIME SOLVERS CASE: Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Sadie Ann Hogan, 31, of Newburg. Hogan currently has three outstanding warrants charging her with failing to appear in court on a theft charge, a non-support charge and a review for a child support case. Hogan is 5’2”, 103lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information about Sadie Hogan’s whereabouts is asked not to approach her but rather call the CCSO Warrant Unit at (301) 932-2222.
