Will serve as president of both hospitals concurrently
CLINTON, Md. (Sept. 8, 2014)—MedStar Health today announced that Christine R. Wray, FACHE, has been chosen to succeed Michael J. Chiaramonte, MBA as president of MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center effective September 6, 2014. Wray will continue to serve in her current role as president of MedStar St. Mary's Hospital, located in Leonardtown, where she has served as its president since 1992.
"Christine Wray brings a strong understanding of the healthcare needs of Southern Maryland residents, a commitment to delivering safe, high quality patient care and an excellent track record given her 30 years of experience in healthcare," said M. Joy Drass, MD, MedStar Health's executive vice president of Operations for the Washington region in a prepared statement.
Wray attended The Johns Hopkins University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in public health. She went on to earn a Master of Health Planning and Administration from The Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Chiaramonte in a prepared statement. "I am confident that the leadership of MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center will continue to build on my family's legacy and deliver excellent healthcare throughout the region for many years to come."
MedStar did not disclose Wray's new salary. However, according to a compensation analysis performed by the Baltimore Sun (1) using publicly available data, Wray was compensated a total of $590,157 and $700,689 in fiscal years 2012 and 2011 respectively as president of the non-profit St. Mary's Hospital.
