CoFounders Lab and OneVest to Present at SMIT MeetUp
Southern Maryland Information and Technology (SMIT) invites technologists, innovators, entrepreneurs and investors to attend a MeetUp on Wednesday, August 27. Attendees can witness the CoFounders Lab entrepreneur matching platform being introduced. CoFounders Lab ( http://www.cofounderslab.com/ ) is an on-line community of more than 40,000 founders, advisers and interns available to help launch or grow your business.
The SMIT MeetUp begins at 5:45 p.m. with a social followed by a program at 6 p.m. in the main hall of the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum and Visitors Center, 22156 Three Notch Road in Lexington Park.
"Choosing your co-founder is arguably the most important decision a start-up business will make," said Robin Finnacom, Acting Director, St. Mary's County Department of Economic Development. Traditionally, entrepreneurs turn to friends and family when searching for business partners, but this search is often too limited in scope. Learning about an online matchmaking service gives individuals access to the largest group of entrepreneurs ever assembled looking to join a startup or to be joined on their venture, allowing fellow entrepreneurs to cast a much wider net in a search for talent.
This past July, CoFounders Lab announced a merger with equity crowdfunding platform RockThePost to create a new company, OneVest. With this merger, the team-building platform will add an equity crowdfunding platform to assist entrepreneurs with raising capital to launch and scale their new ventures. OneVest is also an online platform.
Happy hour will follow the conclusion of the program at the Tides Restaurant. For more information about SMIT and the August 27th MeetUp, contact the St. Mary's County Department of Economic Development at 301-475-4200, ext. 1408.
