Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (July 10, 2014)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

ASSAULT/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On July 8 at 7:10 p.m., a woman was entering a storage unit at the Outback Self Storage lot located at 4615 Crain Highway in White Plains when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male. The man pushed the woman to the ground and attempted to remove her clothes at which time she fought the man off. The suspect may have fled in a green car, possibly with four doors that had Maryland War of 1812 registration plates and a dent on the front bumper. The suspect is a white male in his thirties, 5’8”, 200 lbs., with brown bushy hair, a patchy mustache and a nickel-size hole in his earlobe with a black gauge inserted. There have been no similar reports. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. K. Gross at (301) 932-2222. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

ASSAULT: On July 7 at 10:25 a.m., officers responded to the 8600 block of Gilroy Road in Nanjemoy for the report of an assault. The victim, a salesman, arrived at the location for a scheduled work call when a man emerged from the house and told the victim to leave. The victim explained he was there for a call at which time the subject went back inside, retrieved a shotgun and threatened the victim. The victim left and notified police. Officers found the shotgun and charged Steven Mair, 52, of Nanjemoy, with assault. Cpl. R. Cadrette investigated.

BURGLARY: On July 6 between 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 6800 block of Oreana Place in Bryans Road and stole jewelry, cash and clothing. PFC. D.E. Raby is investigating.

BURGLARY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Sometime between July 5 to July 6, someone broke into the Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 15848 Rock Point Road in Newburg and damaged two windows. Cpl. T. Lee is investigating.
