St. Mary's Co. Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (July 8, 2014)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

MISSING PERSON: JOSEPH DAVID GREENWELL: The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating Joseph David Greenwell, age 17, white male, 6'02" in height, 250 lbs. in weight, with blonde hair and blue eyes, last seen on July 5, 2014 at 11:00 PM, at a residence on Lauren's Run North Way in California, Maryland. Greenwell was wearing a black sleeveless batman tee shirt and blue gym shorts. There are no known critical factors regarding Greenwell at this time. No photograph of Greenwell is available. 6/5/2014 STOLEN MOTORCYCLE: On June 5 at 10:00 AM, the owner of a 2000 Harley Davidson Fatboy model motorcycle parked it for sale in the parking lot of Moore's Driving Academy in the 27000 block of Three Notch Road. When the owner returned at 11:00 PM the same day, the motorcycle was gone. The motorcycle has distinguishing purple flames on the gas tank and fenders with ape hanger style handle bars.

6/30/2014 THEFT: A victim, who resides on Claires Drive in Mechanicsville, reported unknown suspect(s) stole his mailbox form the end of his driveway. Case #35275-14.

6/30/2014 THEFT: An employee at the True Value located in Charlotte Hall, observed an unidentified white male suspect steal several items of merchandise. An unidentified white female suspect entered the store a short time later and attempted to return the same items for a refund. The refund was denied by the store and the suspect left prior to deputy’s arrival. Case remains open. Case #35274-14.

7/1/2014 BURGLARY: A victim, who resides on Sydney Drive in Lexington Park, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his residence. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. Case remains open. Case #35459-14.

7/1/2014 VANDALISM: A victim, who resides on Spriggs Court in Hollywood, reported unknown suspect(s) broke the red flag from her mailbox. A second damaged mailbox was found on the same street during a neighborhood canvass. Case suspended. Case #35478-14 and #35492-14.

7/1/2014 VANDALISM: Two victims reported parking their vehicles on Ridge Road in Lexington Park overnight. Unknown suspect(s) punctured 7 of the 8 tires. Case suspended. Case #35439-14.

7/14/2014 SEXUAL OFFENSE: A victim reported a known male suspect sexually assaulted the victim in a wooded area off of Woodstown Way in California, Maryland. Case remains open, forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division. Case #35910-14.

7/3/2014 THEFT: A resident at the Charlotte Hall Veteran’s Home reported unknown suspect(s) stole cash from his room. Case remains open. Case #35893-14.

7/3/2014 THEFT: A victim, who resides in the Laurel Glenn Subdivision reported both Virginia registration plates were stolen from her vehicle. Case #35880-14.

7/3/2014 THEFT: A victim, who resides on Brett Way in Mechanicsville, reported unknown suspect(s) stole the rear license plate from his vehicle. Case #35862-14.

7/4/2014 DUI/VEHICLE PURSUIT: Corporal Watters observed a truck traveling in the Country Lakes neighborhood in an erratic manner and conducted a traffic stop on the truck. Corporal Watters activated his emergency lights and siren and the operator of the truck refused to stop and a chase ensued. The truck returned to the Country Lakes neighborhood where it crashed into a wood line. The driver, Scott Nathaniel Brown, age 18, was apprehended. He was transported to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Brown was subsequently transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and other related charges.

7/5/2014 BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE: A victim, who resides on Caravel Court, reported unknown suspect(s) forced entry into her vehicle. Nothing appeared to have been stolen. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Manns. Case #36152-14.

7/5/2014 BURGLARY: A victim, who resides on Tall Timbers Road in Tall Timbers, reported unknown suspect(s) forced entry into her home and stole items and cash. Case remains open. Case #36075-14.

7/6/2014 BURGLARY: A victim, who resides on Sandy Bottom Road in Hollywood, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his unsecured shed and stole property. Case remains open and is assigned to Corporal Rogers. Case #36589-14.

7/6/2014 BURGLARY: A victim, who resides on Valley Estates Drive in Lexington Park, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his residence and stole several items of property. Case remains open and is assigned to Deputy Beyer. Case #36533-14.

7/6/2014 THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE: A victim left his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle at the Moore’s Driving Academy for sale. When he returned later the same day, the motorcycle was gone. Case remains open. Case #36458-14.

7/7/2014 BURGLARY: A victim, who resides in the Patuxent Homes neighborhood in Lexington Park, reported unknown suspect(s) entered his residence and stole several items of property. Case remains open. Case #36768-14.

7/7/2014 THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) removed a boat from a lot at Cedar Cove Marina in Valley Lee. The boat was found a short distance away stripped of motor/parts. Case remains open. Case #36743-14.

7/8/2014 ATTEMPTED STRONG ARMED ROBBERY/ASSAULT: A victim, age 58, reported she was walking in the area of South Shangri La Drive and Missouri Avenue in Lexington Park, when two unidentified black male suspects attempted to steal her purse. When the victim resisted the suspects assaulted her causing her to fall to the ground. The suspects tried again to take her purse but were not successful. Both suspects then fled on foot. Case remains open and is forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division. Case #36830-14.

7/8/2014 MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT/FLY OUT: On July 7, 2014 at 7:51 PM, Deputy Lawrence responded to the area of Church Drive in Great Mills, for a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. The bicyclist, a 8 year old male sustained minor injuries and was flown to Children's Hospital for precautionary measures. Preliminary investigation indicates the bicyclist entered the path of the Toyota Camry; however the driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving without a license. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged accordingly. Case #36823-14.
