Electric Car Charging Station Opens at St. Charles Towne Center


CALLAWAY, Md.—An electric car fast-charging station has been opened at St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf. The new "Freedom Station" is located in the parking area between Macy's and Dick's Sporting Goods. The mall is located at 11110 Mall Circle.

The Freedom Station is a product of NRG eVgo (ee-vee-go), a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. The station was installed in cooperation with Simon Property Group, Inc. (NYSE: SPG), the owner of St. Charles Towne Center.

The Freedom Station features a 480-volt direct current (DC) fast charger that enable EV drivers, who are shopping and visiting, to recharge their vehicles in 30 minutes or less, as well as a traditional 240-volt alternating current (AC) charger that can charge all electric vehicles. Consumer price plans for Maryland are provided on the NRG website at http://www.nrgevgo.com/maryland/ .

These efforts are part of a growing network of Freedom Station sites in the greater Washington D.C., metropolitan area with 10 now open and more coming soon.

According to a press release issued jointly by both companies, NRG eVgo is building a network of more than 40 Freedom Station charging sites as well as the infrastructure to support Level 2 charging at multi-family residences and workplaces throughout the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The Freedom Station network is just one part of the NRG eVgo ecosystem designed for EV drivers to get the most out of their vehicles by providing simple charging solutions at home, at apartments, at work, at the airport and on the go.
