Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (April 11, 2014)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

CALL FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY LEADS TO ARREST: On April 9 at 5:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Meadowside Court in Indian Head for the report of a suspicious person walking around the backyard of a vacant house with a flashlight. Officer C. Caywood arrived and observed a man in the backyard. The man immediately fled as soon as he realized he had been spotted. Officer Caywood apprehended the suspect and found burglary tools in his possession. Caywood investigated further and found the heat pump at the back of the house had been partially dismantled and a piece of copper had already been cut from the unit. Two bags - one containing additional tools and another containing the cut copper - were found next to the pump. Thomas Arthur Williams, 23, of Indian Head, was arrested and charged with burglary.

ROBBERY: On April 8 at 1:47 a.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf for a robbery. Three masked suspects entered a convenience store, approached a clerk and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and detectives are pursuing leads. BURGLARY: On April 7 at 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Jonquil Drive in Indian Head for the report of a burglary. Investigation showed someone entered the victim’s unlocked shed and stole tools and other items. Officer E. Caballero is investigating.

CRIME SOLVERS CASE: Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Marcellus Jerome Woodland, 23, of Waldorf. Woodland currently has outstanding warrants charging him with failing to appear in court for carrying a dangerous weapon, first-degree assault, and malicious destruction of property. He also has a warrant charging him with violating his probation relating to a second-degree assault. Woodland is 5’9”, 150 lbs., and has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Marcellus Jerome Woodland’s whereabouts is asked not to approach him but rather call the CCSO Warrant Unit at (301) 932-2222. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to his arrest.
