LA PLATA, Md. (Feb. 28, 2014)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.
MEN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE DRUGS: On Feb. 26 at 9:45 p.m., Officer J. Fenlon initiated a traffic stop near Lexington Drive and Middletown Road after observing a speeding violation. Upon approaching the car, Officer Fenlon detected the strong odor of marijuana. Further investigation led to the discovery of a bag of marijuana inside the vehicle as well as four additional bags with residual marijuana. The occupants of the car, Tyron Lamar Cook, 25, of Waldorf and Jordan De Ryan Brazelton, 25, of Ft. Washington, were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs.
COURIER THEFT/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On Feb. 25 at 11:45 a.m., a man was getting ready to enter a bank at Waldorf Market Place when a male suspect approached and grabbed a bank deposit bag the man was carrying. The suspect ran to a gold, older model car and fled. Detectives are following leads. The CCSO is reminding people to take precautions when making a business deposit at a bank: if possible, have someone accompany you to the bank, hide the bank deposit bag so it is not visible to anyone, alternate the times you make deposits, pay attention to your surroundings and if you see something suspicious, call police immediately. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. Det. T. Hemsley is investigating.
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORTED: On Feb. 26, at 7 p.m., officers responded to an address in White Plains for the report of suspicious activity. A woman said she was at the Shopper’s Food Warehouse on Crain Highway earlier in the day and as she was loading groceries in her car, she observed a man sitting in a car next to her. She left and went home. Later, the woman noticed the same car drive by her house. Then, at about 6:30 p.m., the man who had been in the car knocked on her front door. The woman’s adult son answered the knock and the man indicated he was there to talk with the woman. Neither the woman nor her son recognized the man and they called police. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate the suspect. He is described as a black male in his mid twenties, 5’5” to 5’7”, 150-170 lbs., beard, moustache, and had red, bloodshot eyes. He was wearing a gray hooded shirt with white stripes and a black knit hat and he was driving a small, four-door car, possibly dark blue or black. It is not clear what his motive was. Holbink currently has two open warrants charging him with failure to appear in court for violating probation relating to theft scheme charges and burglary charges. Holbink is 6'2", 220 lbs., and has brown hair, blue eyes and tattoos on his neck.
