Drug Arrests in St. Mary's Co.


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Feb. 28, 2014)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Vice Narcotics Division today released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007.

COCAINE: George Patrick Holt, 48, of Charlotte Hall, was identified by detectives as a distributor of cocaine. Undercover purchases led to several indictments being obtained for Suspect Holt's arrest. He was served the arrest warrants which included charges for Distribution of Cocaine and Conspiring to Distribute Cocaine. He was originally held without bond.

OXYCODONE: Vice/Narcotics detectives received information that Michael Hawthrone Woodland, 69, and Isabelle Marie Herbert, 34, both of Lexington Park, were distributing oxycodone. Detectives made several undercover purchases and both suspects were indicted by a St. Mary's County Grand Jury. Suspect Woodland was arrested on the open indictments for Distribution of Oxycodone and Conspiring to Distribute Oxycodone. Suspect Herbert is already in the Department of Corrections for an unrelated Probation Violation. The indictment will serve as a detainer until she can be returned to St. Mary's County to answer for the new charges.

COCAINE: Jawaan Montell Carroll, 29, of Mechanicsville, was identified as a distributor of cocaine in the northern portion of St. Mary's County. Undercover purchases of cocaine led to arrest warrants as well as search and seizure warrants. Cocaine in the quantity that would indicate the intent to distribute was also recovered. Suspect Carroll was indicted for multiple counts of Distribution of Cocaine and one count of Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute. He was originally held without bail.

MARIJUANA: Detectives identified Tyler Shane Abell, 19, of Callaway, as a distributor of marijuana in the Callaway and Great Mills area of St. Mary's County. Undercover purchases were made by detectives which led to a search and seizure warrant being obtained. Detectives, along with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, K-9 deputies and Support Team deputies executed a search warrant on his Callaway home. Items of evidence were recovered to include marijuana, a digital scale and a shotgun. Additional charges are pending a review with the State's Attorney.

PRESCRIPTION FRAUD: Vice/Narcotics detectives identified Kara Kristine Walker, 30, of La Plata, at a Charlotte Hall pharmacy during the course of a prescription fraud investigation. It was discovered she had utilized someone else's Medicaid information to obtain a fraudulent prescription for Alprazolam (Xanax). She was detained in the parking lot and detectives located a burnt spoon, syringe, a single pill and nearly $80.00 worth of stolen property from the pharmacy. Suspect Walker was charged with Theft under $100.00, Possession of Alprazolam, Obtaining Prescription by Fraud and Medicaid Fraud. Suspect Walker is also a suspect in Charles and Calvert counties for prescription fraud. An additional suspect, Kelvin Arnold Lewis, 42, of La Plata, was arrested on an open warrant through Charles County.

COCAINE, MARIJUANA: A search warrant on the residence of Roderick Emil Bray, 23, of Lexington Park, revealed cocaine, marijuana and related paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged accordingly, additional charges are pending.

OXYCODONE: Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant on the home of Lonnie Clayton Broome, 29, of Lexington Park, and recovered a quantity of oxycodone that he illegally possessed. Additional charges are pending a review with the State's Attorney's Office.

MARIJUANA: Torrance Lamar Kelly, a/k/a Nook, 24, of Mechanicsville, and Clarence Vincent Nelson, 31, were both arrested after marijuana and other items of evidence were recovered during the execution of a search and seizure warrant on their home. Additional charges are pending.

COCAINE: Detectives conducted an investigation into drug sales in a Mechanicsville neighborhood. During the course of the investigation a specific residence was identified as a cocaine distribution location. St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team, K-9 deputies and Support Team deputies accompanied detectives when a search and seizure warrant was executed on the home. A handgun, cocaine, cutting agents, a digital scale, currency and other drug paraphernalia was recovered. Benedict Hugh Baker, 44, was arrested and charged. Additional charges are pending.

COCAINE: James Lionel Medley Jr., 29 of California, was identified as a distributor of cocaine. Detectives made undercover purchases of cocaine from Suspect Medley Jr. which resulted in him being indicted by a St. Mary's County Grand Jury. He was originally held without bond.
