CHARLOTTE HALL, Md.—The Southern Maryland Regional Library Association welcomed three new members to its board of trustees during the annual corporation meeting on February 11. Dave Thomas, Nancy McCord and Karen Eggert joined six other board members who are elected annually to serve a one-year term. The other six who were elected are returning members, including the newly elected board president, Maureen Cunningham.
The Southern Maryland Regional Library Association is a regional resource center for the public libraries in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties; providing library services for the staff and customers of public libraries throughout Southern Maryland. The board of trustees is composed of three members from each of the three county library boards.
The regional library was formed in 1959 to enhance the services provided by the county libraries. It is part of a state-wide resource network of three regional resource centers, working in collaboration with the State Library Resource Center, to provide efficient, economical and coordinated library services that the county library systems cannot adequately provide themselves.
