St. Mary's County Public Schools' Ethics Panel Appointments Announced

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Michael J. Martirano, announces the Ethics Panel appointments made by the Board of Education at its meeting of January 28, 2014 as follows:

REAPPOINTMENTS:

Mr. Robert Ertter of Tall Timbers, Maryland

Mr. Wayne Lockley of California, Maryland

NEW APPOINTMENT:

Ms. Bridget Jarvis of Hollywood, Maryland

The Ethics Panel members will serve a three (3) year term effective immediately.

Report Card Distribution Date Changed

As a result of the inclement weather and subsequent school closings, the report card distribution date for the second marking period will be changed to Monday, February 3, 2014. Report cards were originally scheduled to be distributed on Wednesday, January 29, 2014.

Board Of Education Legislative Breakfast

The Board of Education of St. Mary's County and the Southern Maryland legislative delegation will meet for breakfast on Monday, February 3, 2014, 8:00 a.m., at the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center to discuss legislative initiatives for the current legislative session. In the event of inclement weather this event will be rescheduled to Monday, March 10, 2014.

Board Of Education Seeks Input To Budget

The Board of Education of St. Mary's County seeks public input in preparation for the development of the 2014-2015 (Fiscal Year 2015) operating budget for St. Mary's County Public Schools (SMCPS). SMCPS employees and community members are invited to participate in this Budget Forum on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, 6:00 p.m., in the Board of Education Meeting Room of the Central Administration Building, 23160 Moakley Street, Leonardtown, Maryland.

A sign-up sheet will be available at 5:30 p.m., with individual public comment limited to three minutes. Speakers are encouraged to provide comments in writing, even if presented at the forum, to allow the Board to give consideration to all input.
