CALLAWAY, Md. (Dec. 19, 2013)—Local governmental entities have announced the following schedule changes for the upcoming Christmas and New Years holidays.
Calvert County Government
All Calvert County government offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Offices will close at noon Tuesday, Dec. 31.
The Calvert Pines, Southern Pines and North Beach senior centers will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1. The centers will close at noon Dec. 31. Meals on Wheels will not be delivered on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1, but will be delivered on Dec. 24 and 31.
Calvert Library locations will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24 and 25. Libraries will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, and be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Public transportation will not be in service on Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25 or Wednesday, Jan. 1, and will close at noon Dec. 31. Call 410-535-4268 for specific schedule information.
Solid Waste sites will be open until noon Tuesday, Dec. 24. Sites will be closed Christmas day. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, sites will close at noon and reopen for normal business on Thursday, Jan. 2.
The Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. It will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 31 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 1.
The Calvert Marine Museum will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, but the Museum Store will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for any last-minute gift-buying needs. The museum will reopen at 10 a.m. Dec. 26. The museum will close at noon Dec. 31 and due to renovations, will be closed through February 2014. Museum offices will reopen Jan. 2.
County parks will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Kings Landing Park will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 31. Battle Creek Cypress Swamp will be open 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 24 and 31 and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 1. Flag Ponds Nature Park will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 31 and Jan. 1.
All community centers will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 and Jan. 1. The Northeast Community Center will be open 8:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 31. All other centers will be closed Dec. 31.
Charles County Government
Monday, Dec. 23

Tuesday, Dec. 24
-- Charles County Skate Park will be closed. All other parks will be open for walk-in use during regular daylight hours.
-- The last VanGO departures from the Waldorf transfer point will be at 5:30 p.m. on the 301 Connector, Business A, Business B, and Charlotte Hall routes. Last departures from the Waldorf transfer point will be at 6 p.m. on the Berry Road, Indian Head, Pinefield, St. Charles A, St. Charles B, and St. Charles C routes. Last departures from the La Plata transfer point will be at 5:30 p.m. on the 301 Connector, Bryans Road, and Nanjemoy routes. St. Mary's County Government
All St. Mary's County Government offices will be closed Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25, for the Christmas holiday as well as Tuesday, December 31, and Wednesday, January 1, for the New Year's holiday.
The St. Andrews Landfill and six Convenience Centers will be closed on December 25 and January 1, 2014. The St. Mary's Transit System (STS) bus service will end at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24 and will not operate December 25 for Christmas or January 1, 2014 for New Year's. STS will be open for normal business hours prior to and after the observed holidays.
The six convenience centers will have extended hours of operation the week of December 23 through December 27, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. to accommodate the increased usage of the facilities by County residents during the holiday season. The St. Andrews Landfill will operate at its regular hours, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., during the holiday season.
Citizens may drop off undecorated Christmas trees for collection at the landfill and convenience centers free of charge. Trees should be placed in designated areas beginning December 24, 2013 through January 31, 2014. Last year, the County collected nearly 15 tons of Christmas trees. Over 6,000 tons of mulch is produced annually at the St. Andrews Landfill and made available to St. Mary's County citizens while supplies last.
The three branches of the St. Mary's County Library will be closed December 24, 25 and January 1, 2014. The libraries will close at 5 p.m. on December 31.
All three Department of Aging Senior Activity Centers will be closed December 24, 25, 31 and January 1, 2014 and there will be no Meals on Wheels deliveries.
Tri-County Youth Services Bureau
TCYSB will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25; Saturday, Dec. 28; Wednesday, Jan. 1; and Saturday, Jan. 4. Please call 301-645-1837 for any emergencies.
College of Southern Maryland
The College of Southern Maryland will close for its winter break at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20. The college will resume operations on Thursday, Jan. 2.
Access to online services, including registration, is available at www.csmd.edu through my.CSMD services.
CSM's January minisession begins Monday, Jan. 6 and concludes Friday, Jan. 17. Classes for the spring 2014 semester will begin on Monday, Jan. 21.
Textbook discount day will take place Wednesday, Jan. 15 online at www.csmd.edu and at all campus locations.

Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA)
All Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) stations are closed on Tuesday, and Wednesday December 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday and the statewide budget reduction plan. The MVA and VEIP stations are also closed on Tuesday and Wednesday December 31 and January 1 for the New Years holiday and the statewide budget reduction plan. Many options are still available online at www.mva.maryland.gov around the clock and throughout the holidays for your drivers or vehicle transactions. Anywhere, anytime, the MVA online is the best way to complete your transaction this holiday season.
The MVAs full-service and express offices and all VEIP stations will reopen on Thursday, December 26, 2013 and January 2, 2014 at 8:30 am.
