LA PLATA, Md. (Dec. 11, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

WARRANT SQUAD LOCATES FUGITIVE: On Dec. 6 at 10:45 a.m., members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office Warrant Squad located David Carnell Stringer, 49, of Accokeek who was wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in 2003. Stringer was located at an address in Clinton, MD and was arrested without incident. He was released on bond by a district court commissioner.

CRASH INVOLVING FIRE TRUCK: On Dec. 8 at 2:21 p.m., members of the Newburg Volunteer Fire Department Engine 141 were responding to a call for a car crash on Route 234. The engine lost control on an icy bridge near Creek View Place and overturned landing on its roof in a ravine. Five firefighters were on board and were unable to get out from the truck. Members of neighboring fire departments including La Plata, Bel Alton, Hughesville and Cobb Island responded and extricated the firefighters. EMS transported all five firefighters to the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center where they were treated for non life-threatening injuries. Ice and poor weather conditions were contributing factors in this crash. PFC S. Stanley of the Charles County Sheriff's Office Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

ROBBERIES: CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On Dec. 8 at 1:25 a.m., three young adults reported they were robbed outside a house in the 4000 block of Oakton Place in White Plains. They said a group of male suspects approached them as they were leaving a party, assaulted them and stole their cell phones. A short time later, two other people reported they too had been robbed after leaving the party. The victims said they were outside when three to five males approached, displayed a handgun and demanded their belongings. The victims complied and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and went back to the house where the party was, but they did not locate any other victims. There were no serious injuries and detectives are continuing the investigation. CHILD CRITICALLY INJURED IN CAR CRASH: On Dec. 7 at 6:08 p.m., the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling south on Oak Avenue near Arlington Drive when he lost control of his car and struck a tree. The driver, 22, of La Plata was not injured. His niece, a three-year-old girl, was in the back seat of the car. She was injured and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Cpl J. Hopkins of the Charles County Sheriff's Office Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 6 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., someone broke into a house in the 5100 block of Barracuda Court in Waldorf and stole several guns and a game system. PFC M. O'Shields is investigating.

THEFT: Sometime between Dec. 2 and Dec. 6, someone stole an AC unit from a house in the 4000 block of Chicamuxen Road in Marbury. PFC. J. Riffle is investigating.

ROBBERY: On Dec. 5 at 5:21 p.m., a man was walking toward his house in the 4600 block of Pebbleshire Court in Waldorf when two males wearing hooded sweatshirts approached and demanded he empty his pockets. The victim believed the suspects had a gun and he complied. The suspects stole the victim's phone and fled. Officers established a perimeter and a police K-9 team responded and conducted a track. CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD IN BURGLARY CASES: Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the identity of a man wanted in connection with three burglary cases. On Oct. 25, during the overnight hours, the suspect broke into a car rental shop in the 11700 block of Holly Auto Lane in Waldorf and stole cash. Detectives are looking into the possibility the same man attempted to break into two other automotive businesses. A surveillance camera from one of the businesses shows a man on a bicycle at about the time the business was broken into. Investigators want to identify this person. The man is described as a white male, tall, wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, a black ski mask and gloves. He was riding a mountain bike. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective R. Williams at (301) 609- 6488. On October 4 at 3 a.m., three suspects broke into Toys-R-Us in Waldorf and stole game consoles and games. Officers arrived on the scene within minutes but the suspects were gone. Footage was obtained from a surveillance camera which showed the suspects breaking into a display. Detectives are looking into the possibility the same suspects are responsible for a similar burglary on Oct. 27. Investigators are following leads.
