Simon A. Mcneely Honor Award
Ms. Likie Milton (Spring Ridge Middle School) and Mr. William Plotner (Esperanza Middle School) were recipients of the Simon A. McNeely Honor Award at the annual convention of the Maryland Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD) held on October 18, 2013.
The Simon A. McNeely Honor Award is presented to those individuals who have demonstrated active involvement in school and community affairs, along with outstanding teaching and service in the field of physical education.
2013 High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year
Ms. Patricia Tillotson has been selected as the 2013 High School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by the Maryland Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD). Ms. Tillotson is a Physical Education teacher at Chopticon High School.
This prestigious award is given to a teacher who conducts an appropriate physical education program as reflected in generally accepted standards of practice for physical education; utilizes various teaching methodologies and plans innovative learning experiences to meet the needs of all students; serves as a positive role model epitomizing personal health and fitness, enjoyment of activity, and sensitivity to the physical and emotional needs of all students; participates in professional development opportunities; and provides service to the profession through advocacy, consultation, in-service training presentations and/or active membership in related professional organizations.
Ms. Tillotson received this outstanding award at the MAHPERD Annual Convention in Hunt Valley, Maryland on Friday, October 18, 2013.
Ethics Panel to Meet

St. Mary's County Public Schools' (SMCPS) Work Hard and Be Nice Award recognizes distinct and extraordinary accomplishments of school system employees in connection with official employment.
