Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Nov. 5, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY/THEFT: Sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 1 and 9 a.m. Nov. 2, suspects forced entry into the Sportsman Barber Shop located at 5885 Crain Highway in La Plata. The suspects stole a laptop and electronic hair clippers and then fled the scene undetected. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Officer R. BURGLARY/ATTEMPTED THEFT: Sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 1 and 5:50 a.m. Nov. 2, suspects shattered a front glass window at Atlantic Cycle and Sport located at 4580 Crain Highway in White Plains and entered the building. The suspects attempted to steal a motorcycle but were unable to exit with the vehicle through the building’s locked doors. They ultimately abandoned the motorcycle and fled the scene without stealing any property. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Officer R. FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Nov. 3 at 7:10 p.m., officers responded to the 12100 block of Ell Lane in Waldorf for the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a 19-year-old female who had a gunshot wound to the lower body. She was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was with a group of people who were arguing when a male suspect pulled a gun and fired several shots at the victim. The nature of the argument is not clear at this time. Investigators are pursuing leads and anyone with information is asked to call Det. K. Selkirk at (301) 609- 6595. FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Nov. 3 at 1:55 a.m., officers responded to Club Icon at 2106 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they discovered a 24-year-old male from Washington, D.C. with several stab wounds to the upper body. The victim was flown to a hospital where he was admitted with critical injuries. A preliminary investigation showed the victim was stabbed inside the club when he was stabbed but the motive is not clear. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. J. Elliott at (301) 609- 6515. ACCIDENTAL DROWNING: On Nov. 3 at 2 p.m., a 6-year-old boy was playing with friends near a lake on Drake Court in Waldorf. The boy and his friends walked out on to a concrete platform where the victim lost his balance and fell into the water. His friends ran to a nearby house and called for help. Charles County Sheriff's officers, Fire and EMS personnel responded and began a search. A member of the Charles County Dive and Rescue Team located the child in the water several minutes later and life saving measures were initiated. The child was transported to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center where he died two hours later. The child has been identified as Jayden Michael Williams, 6, of Waldorf. At this time, it appears this is an accidental drowning. Det. J. McKenzie is investigating.





CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD FOR IDENTITIES OF ROBBERY SUSPECTS: Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the identities of several suspects wanted in connection with a robbery. On Sept. 28 at 4 a.m., the suspects pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store in the 2100 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. The driver of the suspect's car -which was described as a white Nissan Altima or Maxima - remained in the vehicle. One suspect stood watch at the front door and two other suspects entered the business at gunpoint and robbed the clerk. A surveillance camera caught some of the action and detectives want to know who the suspects are. One of the suspects appears to have a tattoo on the top of his right hand (see photos above).
