LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 21, 2013)The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.
COPS ON ROOFTOPS: The Cops on Rooftops program consists of officers greeting customers at the door and, (for the daring), standing on the roof of the California, Maryland Dunkin Donuts. This is done in an effort to attract attention, awareness and customer support for Special Olympics. There will be Sheriff's Office vehicles, a silent auction, entertainment for kids and of course DONUTS and COFFEE. Volunteers, officer's and Special Olympics athletes will be on-site to greet customers both inside and outside the store.
This is a very worthwhile and fun event that will only take a few hours of your Saturday or Sunday morning. If you are interested in assisting please email or contact me directly. WARRANT SERVICE: On September 17, Taylor Richard Cook, 24, of Lexington Park, was served with an arrest warrant charging him with the following traffic violations: Failure of Vehicle Driver to Report an Accident; Failure of Vehicle Driver to Stop After an Accident; and Failure of Vehicle Driver to Locate Owner of Property.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On September 18, Deputy Kirkner responded to a reported domestic assault in Lexington Park. The female victim reported her husband, Joshua Andrew Weigle, 30, of California, struck her in the head and scratched her on the wrist as she attempted to grab a cell phone from the floor. Deputy Kirkner observed evidence of fresh injury on the victim's wrist. Weigle was placed under arrest and transported to the detention center. Weigle was charged with 2nd Degree Assault.
SEX OFFENDER VIOLATION: In March 2012 a registered sexual offender, Willie Jae Johnson, 29 of no fixed address, absconded from St. Mary's County. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Sex Offender Registry Unit immediately obtained a warrant for the Johnson's arrest and attempted to locate him without success. Detectives continued to follow leads regarding Johnson's whereabouts and recently obtained information Johnson had returned to St. Mary's County. CID Detectives and Patrol officers from the Sheriff's Office arrested Johnson without incident at a home in Lexington Park. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he is being held on no bond for: Violation of Probation - Circuit Court Warrant and Failure to Register as a Sexual Offender (7 Counts).
