Calvert Co. Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Sept. 12, 2013)—The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ROLLING ROADBLOCKS: During the months of September and October, the Sheriff's Office will be conducting Operation Slow Down. Marked police cruisers will be setting the pace for the flow of traffic. This operation will be conducted on Maryland Route 2/4 from Dunkirk to Solomons and from Solomons to Dunkirk approximately 3 to 4 times a day. For the safety of the citizens of Calvert County, Sheriff Evans is committed to reducing motor vehicle fatalities and accidents by reducing vehicle speeds. This operation will begin on September 16.

POLICE & CITIZEN VEHICLES COLLIDE: On September 7 at 8:49 p.m., DFC J.G. Denton, Jr. was responding to a priority call in his agency vehicle, a 2013 Ford Interceptor, with lights and siren activated, northbound on Md. Rt. 4 at Church Street in Prince Frederick. A vehicle driven by David W. Kent, 62 of Ontario, at the southbound light of the intersection, proceeded through his green turn light in order to make a U-turn and travel north on Md. Rt. 4. At this time, Kent's vehicle, a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country sedan, struck DFC Denton's vehicle on the driver's side. DFC Denton was transported via ambulance to Calvert Memorial Hospital. He was treated for minor injuries and released. Mr. Kent and his three passengers did not suffer any injuries. DFC Denton was determined to be at fault.
