CALLAWAY, Md.—16-year-old Gabrielle Cory of Leonardtown (St. Mary's County) was named Miss Maryland Agriculture 2013 during opening-night festivities at the Maryland State Fair in Timonium on Aug. 25.
Gabrielle is a member and represented the St. Mary's County Farm Bureau.
Gabrielle lives on a 20-acre farmstead dedicated to forest conservation and also has sheep, cattle and poultry housed on her grandmother's farm. She is the daughter of Wesley and Marian Cory.
Gabrielle thanked her St. Mary's County coordinator, Emmillee Guy, for mentoring her and giving her advice prior to the contest, according to a Md. Farm Bureau representative on Facebook.
Gabrielle met with Governor O'Malley and Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance on Thursday at the combined Governor's Agriculture and Volunteer Day luncheon in Timonium.
