LA PLATA, Md. (May 30, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

TWO MEN CHARGED WITH SHOPLIFTING AND POSSESSION OF DRUGS: On May 28 at 4:51 p.m., officers responded to the 12000 block of Jefferson Farm Place in Waldorf for the report of a shoplifting at a home improvement store. When officers arrived, the suspects were already in custody. One of the suspects, James Rashad Holbert, 18, of Suitland, initially gave officers a fictitious name, but a computer check revealed his true identity. In addition, officers found 17 baggies of marijuana on him. Holbert and his accomplice, Melvin Tyrone Simmons, 19, of Washington, D.C., were arrested and charged with theft, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. PFC J. Morales made the arrest.

ATTEMPT BURGLARY: On May 27 at 2:22 p.m., officers responded to the 6200 block of Woodchuck Place in Waldorf for the report of an attempt burglary that occurred minutes earlier. A teenager called police after two male suspects tried to break into the house. The teen said he was alone when he heard the doorbell ringing. He looked outside and did not recognize the people at the door so he did not answer it. After a few minutes, the suspects tried to kick the door in but they fled after they realized someone was home. The suspects are described as black males in their teens to early twenties. One suspect was wearing a white, long sleeved shirt and carrying a large black duffle bag. Both suspects had ski masks. The CCSO is reminding residents to report suspicious activity immediately. Officer J. Hornickel is investigating.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE SEEKING ROBBERY SUSPECTS' ID/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On May 24 at 5:45 p.m., officers responded to the Wakefield Recreational Center in the 2000 block of Nantucket Drive in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. Investigation showed the victim, an employee of the center, was cleaning the pool when two males approached. They pushed the victim to the ground, assaulted him and stole his wallet. The suspects then fled across the field towards the area of Red Lion Place. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The CCSO has obtained surveillance photos of the suspects and ask anyone with information about who they are to call (301) 932-2222.
