Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (April 23, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY: On April 21 at 7:45 p.m., the victim, a delivery man for a carryout restaurant, was seated in his car in the 6000 block of Thoroughbred Court in Waldorf when a lone male suspect approached, pulled a gun and demanded money. The victim refused and drove off. The suspect is described as a black male, 6'0", thin, wearing a black shirt, possibly a black jacket, and an unknown colored hat. Pfc. M. O'Shields is investigating.

MOTORCYCLES STOLEN: Between April 13 - April 20, unknown suspect(s) stole four motorcycles from a trailer in the 3400 block of Breconridge Drive in Waldorf. Pfc. D. Walker is investigating.

THEFT OF CABINETS: Between March 30 - April 19, unknown suspect(s) broke into vacant house in the 6900 block of Pale Morning Court in Hughesville and stole all of the kitchen cabinets and a water softener. The house has been vacant for years. PFC L. Sershen is investigating.

THEFTS FROM AUTOS: On April 18, unknown suspect(s) entered two unlocked cars in the 8400 block of Cardinal Lane in White Plains and stole a purse and credit cards that were left inside. The suspect used the cards at a nearby store and purchased several items. The suspect is described as a white female, 20's, heavy build, reddish colored hair, wearing a black zip up jacket, a gray shirt, and red pajama pants with white circular patterns. She may have fled in a white car. Pfc B. Moore is investigating.

FATAL CAR CRASH: On April 17 at 9:44 p.m., officers responded to the 5500 block of Smallwood Church Road in Indian Head for the report of a car crash. A preliminary investigation showed the driver of a pick-up truck, Harry Joseph Dunnington, Jr., 49, of Nanjemoy, was traveling south on Smallwood Church Road when he left the roadway and struck a tree. Dunnington was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Cpl. J. Hopkins of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
