LA PLATA, Md. (April 3, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.
WARRANT SERVICE: On April 2 at 12:33 a.m., officers responded to the 10000 block of Deacon Road in White Plains after receiving information a man was at the residence and had an open warrant. Officers located the subject, John Thomas Summers, III, 23, of White Plains, and arrested him. During the arrest, officers observed drug paraphernalia in Summers' room. They also found drug paraphernalia on Summers. Summers was served the arrest warrant and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Pfc. J. Walter made the arrest.
THEFT: On April 1 between 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole a red, 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle from the 3500 block of Promenade Place in Waldorf. Pfc. M. Wagner is investigating.
BURGLARY: On March 31 between 3 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) pried open a screen to a window of a house in the 2200 block of Hope Circle in Waldorf. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole an Xbox, controllers, earphones, and other electronics. The scene was processed and latent lifts were obtained. Pfc. K. Newman is investigating.
FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On March 31 at 9:56 p.m., officers from the Town of La Plata and the CCSO responded to the 600 block of Pomonkey Way in La Plata for the report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they were directed to the area of Holly Drive where they located a 20-year-old man who said someone fired shots at him and a group of associates. Detectives continued canvassing the area and subsequently learned the victims were by the basketball courts when someone fired shots towards them. No one was struck and the suspects fled, possibly in a car. Based on further investigation, detectives determined the shooting was not random and they are pursuing leads. THEFT: On March 30, a silver 2008 Honda CBR motorcycle was stolen from the 3400 block of Promenade Place in Waldorf. PFC K. Newman is investigating.
FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT/CRIME SOLVERS OFFERING CASH REWARD: On March 30 at 6:30 p.m., officers responded to St. Charles Towne Center in Waldorf for the report of a stabbing. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim, 21, and a friend were in the upper level of the mall when two males approached. One of the males pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper body. The victim fled to the parking lot and police and emergency workers were notified. The victim was flown to a hospital where he was treated and released later that evening. Detectives developed information that there was a minor verbal confrontation between the victim and suspect just minutes before the stabbing. The suspect is described as a black male, dark complexion, late teens to early 20's, and he wore his hair in long dreadlocks. A
surveillance photo of the suspect was obtained from a nearby store and shows the suspect (in a green/gray colored pea coat and dress shoes) with two other people - a man and a woman. Detectives want to identify all three of the individuals.

ROBBERY REPORTED: On March 30 at 3 a.m., officers responded to the 4800 block of Underwood Court in Waldorf for the report of a citizen robbery. The victim said she was exiting her car when a lone male approached, displayed a gun and demanded her purse. The victim complied and the suspect fled. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10" with a medium build. He was wearing a mask that partially covered his face. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
DRUG ARREST: On March 29 at 11:56 p.m., Pfc. C. Walter initiated a traffic stop near Billingsley Road and Worthington Street in Waldorf after observing a traffic violation. During the stop, officers found drug paraphernalia in the car and suspected marijuana. The driver, Dezi Christopher Collins, 19, of Charlotte Hall, and passenger, Michael Steven Jefferson, 21, of Hughesville, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Collins was also charged with traffic violations.
BURGLARY: On March 28 at 1:15 p.m., officers responded to the 4100 block of Arthur Ross Place in Indian Head for the report of a burglary in progress. Investigation showed the homeowner had just pulled into her driveway when she observed two males near her back door which had been shattered with a rock. When the homeowner confronted the suspects, they fled. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. The suspects are described as black males, mid 20's, wearing black coats and dark pants. One suspect had dreadlocks and both suspects wore stocking caps. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.
BURGLARY: On March 27 between 9:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m., unknown suspect(s) forced open a door of a house in the 11800 block of Oak Manor Drive in Waldorf and stole an Xbox 360 and cash. Cpl. J. Burroughs is investigating.
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE: Between March 26 - March 27, during the overnight hours, unknown suspect(s) stole the tires and rims from a Dodge Caliber parked in the 900 block of Truro Lane in Waldorf. The suspect(s) also stole a radio from another car parked nearby. PFC D. Butler is investigating.
UPDATE ON MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore performed an autopsy on March 27 and determined the driver died as a result of a medical event and not as a result of injuries. This event will not be carried as a fatal motor vehicle crash.
On March 27 at 1:46 a.m., officers responded to the area of St. Charles Parkway and Smallwood Drive in Waldorf for the report of a car crash. A preliminary investigation revealed Benjamin Bronson, Jr., 52, of Waldorf, was driving his Honda Accord south on St. Charles Parkway when he left the roadway and struck a tree. When officers arrived on the scene, they made entry inside the car and found Bronson unconscious and not breathing. Bronson was transported to Civista Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Cpl. B. Saunders of the Traffic Operations Unit is continuing the investigation.
