ST. MARYS CITY, Md.Charles Chip Jackson has been named St. Marys College of Marylands vice president for business and finance. Currently serving as the colleges associate vice president for planning and facilities, Jackson will replace Thomas J. Botzman, who will depart St. Marys for the presidency of Misericordia University on July 1.
I have every confidence in Chips abilities as he assumes this important new role in service to St. Marys College, said President Joseph R. Urgo. I am pleased to have such a qualified candidate within our campus community. Chip and Tom will have the opportunity to work closely together throughout the spring semester to ensure a seamless transition of duties.
As a 26-year employee of St. Marys College, Jackson is a well-known figure to the campus, county and state. As associate vice president for planning and facilities, Jackson has led the colleges master planning, design and construction efforts. His work has led to multiple awards for architecture and sustainability initiatives. In addition, Jackson has been a leader on a variety of college initiatives including student housing expansion and renewal planning, procurement policy, the Pub, food service planning, the annual Governors Cup Yacht Race, and new models for the River Concert Series.
I'm very honored with this appointment and look forward to the new opportunities it presents to serve the college and its faculty, students and staff, said Jackson. As part of President Urgos leadership team, I hope to contribute to the continued advancement of the colleges mission as Marylands public honors college.
In the role of vice president for business and finance, Jackson will oversee business affairs, facilities planning and operations, human resources, information technology, and government relations.
