St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (January 7, 2013)—The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRIVE-BY SHOOTING: On January 4 at approximately 7:30 p.m., three teenagers were walking in the West Westbury Neighborhood of Great Mills when a small passenger vehicle drove up and fired shots at the teenagers. One of the teenagers, a fifteen-year-old from Great Mills, was shot and driven to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Bureau of Criminal Investigations is seeking the public's assistance in this investigation.

DRUG ARREST: On January 3, Deputy Shomper observed a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant fail to stop at a stop sign located at the intersection of Midway Drive and Pegg Road in Lexington Park. Deputy Shomper stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Charles Allen Carter, 18 of Hollywood. As the deputy was speaking with Carter, the deputy observed several suspected flakes of marijuana on the seats of the vehicle. A probable cause search of Carter revealed he was in possession of suspected marijuana, as well as, a controlled dangerous substance smoking device. Carter was arrested and charged with possession of suspected marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

VIOLATION OF A PEACE ORDER: On January 4 at approximately 2:00 a.m., George NMN Sewell, 44 of no fixed address, was served with a Peace Order ordering he not enter onto the property or contact the petitioner of the order. On January 4 at approximately 3:10 a.m., Sewell went to the petitioner's residence, knocked on the door and attempted to contact the petitioner in violation of the order. When deputies arrived at the residence Sewell was still standing on the petitioner's property. Sewell was arrested for violating the conditions of a Peace Order.

DRUG ARREST: On December 27, 2012 Deputies went to a residence on Valley Drive in Lexington Park to attempt to serve a warrant. When an individual at the residence opened the door, the deputies smelled on odor of burnt marijuana. Deputies entered the residence and saw in plain view a baggy containing suspected marijuana. Further investigation revealed a glass smoking device containing suspected marijuana residue. Deputies arrested Daniel Ray Ferdig, 26 of Vacaville, California for possession of marijuana and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

DRUG ARREST: On December 29, 2012 at approximately 2:25 a.m., Dfc. Boyer was conducting a patrol check of Millison Plaza in Lexington Park when he observed a vehicle parked in the parking lot away from all the businesses. Dfc. Boyer investigated. As he approached the vehicle he observed an individual, later identified as Kyle Javiel Diaz, 20 of no fixed address, sleeping inside of the vehicle. Dfc. Boyer also observed a baggy containing suspected synthetic marijuana and an aluminum can crushed with burnt residue. Dfc. Boyer woke Diaz. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed Diaz was in possession of Oxycodone without a prescription. Diaz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
