WALDORF, Md.—On December 13, 2012 Community Bank of Tri-County presented the final installment of a $100,000 donation, which was originally pledged as part of the CSM "Campaign for the Next 50 Years," in 2009.
"The College of Southern is a critical resource for educational opportunities in Southern Maryland. With our donation, we are underscoring our support for CSM and its role to serve the growing need in our community for academic excellence," said Michael Middleton, Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank of Tri-County.
The $100,000 donation made by Community Bank of Tri-County is part of the "Campaign for the Next 50 Years," which was initiated by CSM in 2009. The campaign raised more than $4.28 million in cash and pledges and more than $3 million in grants. The funds raised have been used to support an Institute for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), a regional center for trades and transportation technologies and initiatives to address local nursing and health care workforce shortages. Additionally, the funds have endowed the Scholarships for Success fund.
"Community Bank of Tri-County is a philanthropic leader in Southern Maryland, and we are grateful for the strong support they have generously provided throughout the years. As a lead partner with the college in its Campaign for the Next 50 Years, they have been provided educational opportunities for so many of our students. Community Bank of Tri-County is making a difference for our region, our students and their families," said CSM President Dr. Brad Gottfried.
Community Bank of Tri-County is the oldest independent financial institution headquartered in Southern Maryland with eleven branches and over $975 million in assets.
