LA PLATA, Md.—Three College of Southern Maryland soccer players earned national honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their efforts on and off the field.

Sophomores Staci Stamp, of Rose Haven, and Chanel Allen, of Indian Head, earned honors for the NSCAA 2012 Junior College Women Scholar All American Team.

“Staci was a pivotal player on the defensive side of the ball and had her season cut short due to an injury but still served as a leader to the team and continued to flourish in the classroom,” said CSM Athletics Coordinator Nick Williams. Stamp is majoring in physical therapy with a 4.0 grade point average (GPA). “Also in the backfield, Chanel helped the women to their best season in school history. She started all 14 games and recorded one goal on the year,” said Williams. Allen is majoring in biology with a 3.9 GPA.

Selected for honors on the NSCAA 2012 Junior College Women’s Division 1 All-North Region Team were Allen and freshman Erin Kelly, of Leonardtown, a midfielder. “Kelly started 11 games this year and recorded 15 points on the year with four goals and a team-leading seven assists,” said Williams. Head Coach Adam Sanchez is hoping to have Kelly back next year to make another run for the Region XX championship.
