Solomons Gallery Offers Printing, Fine Art

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. –– Terry Quinn took a chance when he decided to open Solomons Gallery, but so far he has been glad he did it.

The Solomons Island store centers on Quinn’s printing business, through which he prints the work of other artists. He also produces and sells his own work wholesale, shipping it to retail outlets for sale, and displays his work in the store front.

“It’s been great my first year,” Quinn said. “My customers have been very good to me.”

Quinn is a self-taught photographer and has been promoting his own photographs, especially a crab series that has brought him considerable success. “It’s everywhere in Southern Maryland,” he said, noting that a number of area businesses have purchased prints from the series to display.

Quinn’s background is in marketing and he credits much of the gallery’s success to that experience.

“I always wanted to take pictures, and I got to the point where I felt confident enough that I could print my own stuff. The game changed when I bought the printer and rented my own store front,” he said.

Solomons Gallery is at 10 Creston Lane, Suite 4, in Solomons. Visit on the Web at http://www.solomonsgallery.com or call 410-231-2052. The store offers both canvas and paper printing, and specializes in fine art prints. The gallery is open by appointment only, but Quinn lives nearby and can often open when visitors call his number, which is posted on the door.
