So. Md. Navy Alliance Elects Glen Ives as President


CALIFORNIA, Md.—Glen Ives has been elected to the position of president of The Southern Maryland Navy Alliance (SMNA), according to the SMNA board of directors. Ives takes over from Ed Sierra, of Sierra Management and Technologies, Inc. Sierra served a two-year term. Ives retired from the U.S. Navy where he most recently served as commanding officer of Naval Air Station Patuxent River.

Ives is currently Group Vice President at Sabre Systems, Inc. Ives served as past Honorary Chairman of the United Way, Christmas in April and Special Olympics. He is a Rotarian, a 2009 graduate of Leadership Maryland, and also serves on the Boards of the College of Southern Maryland Foundation, St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce, The Patuxent Partnership, and Annmarie Garden. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Mary's College of Maryland and the Board of Governors for the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center. He also served on the Metropolitan Commission Task Force, chaired the Catholic Schools Task Force and most recently co-chaired the River Concert Series Task Force.

A graduate of the United States Naval Academy and United States Army War College, Ives served as a Naval Officer and Navy pilot deployed throughout the world and across the United States.

"In his role as SMNA President, Glen plans to continue to safeguard the Patuxent River Complex by striving to support the expansion of Department of Defense related programs and jobs," according to a SMNA press release. "He has already begun to facilitate coordination and consensus building with various organizations, groups, clubs, governments and individuals who have interests in maintaining a healthy and stable Patuxent river Complex, including Webster Field in St, Inigoes."
