Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (September 6, 2012)—The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of August 27 through September 2, deputies responded to 1,553 calls for service throughout the community.

RESISTING ARREST: On August 28 at 12:47 a.m., Dep. J. Migliaccio conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of the Wa-Wa Convenience Store in Dunkirk. The driver, later identified as James Paul Gurskey, Jr., 24 of Annapolis, became argumentative and refused to follow the instructions of Dep. Migliaccio. Gurskey was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, failure to obey a lawful order and hindering a police officer in the performance of his lawful duties.

THEFT: A blue Moped with checkered flags on it was stolen from in front of a home on Golden West Way in Lusby between August 27 and 28. DFC J. Hardesty is investigating.

DRUG ARREST: On August 29 at 10:10 a.m., DFC J. Bell responded to the area of Calvert Beach Road at Long Beach Road in St. Leonard to assist Sgt. M. Bomgardner during a traffic stop. The driver and two passengers were all found to be in possession of suspected drugs. Stacy Lee Brown, 19 and Michael Harry Coyle, 25, both of St. Leonard, and Justin Earl Asquith, 20, of Lusby, were each charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a metal grinder, and possession of marijuana.

THEFT: DFC A. Woodford is investigating the theft of a white 18-speed bicycle, a pink and purple mid-size bicycle with streamers on the handlebar and a bright pink Razor electric scooter from the yard of a home on 28th Street in Chesapeake Beach on August 29.

BURGLARY: A home on Holland Cliffs Road in Huntingtown was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. on August 28 and 7:00 p.m. on August 29. Almost $1,000 in damage was done by the culprit(s) to gain entry into the home and $1350 worth of jewelry was stolen. Dep. B. Schaeffer is investigating.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: An Apple iPod was stolen from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the parking lot of Fox Run Shopping Center in Prince Frederick on August 30 at around 3:00 p.m. Dep. M. Quinn is handling the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A victim advised DFC J. Hardesty that on September 1 at 11:33 p.m. he was operating his vehicle on Gunsmoke Court near Sitting Bull Trail in Lusby when someone threw a golf-ball-sized rock through his drivers' side window, shattering it. The victim was not injured and the damage was estimated at $250. DFC Hardesty canvassed the area but was unable to locate any suspects.

THEFT: Unknown suspect(s) caused $600 in damage to a vehicle when they broke into it and stole $9 worth of change while it was parked outside a home on 8th Street in North Beach between September 1 and 2. DFC J. Lord is investigating.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: A second victim on 8th Street advised DFC Lord that tire on his vehicle was slashed during the same time frame, resulting in $200 worth of damage.
