PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (August 20, 2012)—The Calvert County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of August 13 through August 19, deputies responded to 1,599 calls for service throughout the community.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Dep. C. Fox responded to the Richfield Station development on Woodland Court in Chesapeake Beach on August 13 for the report of damaged lights. The President of the Homeowners Association informed him that three of the lights recently installed at the main entrance had been damaged sometime between August 8 and 13. The damage is estimated at $1000. The investigation is continuing.
TRESPASS: On August 13 at 3:55 p.m. Cpl. S. Parrish responded to the Prince Frederick Giant for the report of a man lying on the walkway in front of the store. He encountered a man who appeared to be asleep with 2 empty beer cans and an empty miniature vodka bottle next to his head. He woke the man and advised him to collect his trash and leave the area. The man made no attempts to do so and was arrested. William Justin Gray, Sr., 52 of Owings, was charged with trespass and littering.
THEFT: A green and black 16 inch Show Gun BMX bicycle valued at $546 was stolen from in front of a home on Dayton Avenue in North Beach on August 13 between 9:00-9:30 p.m. DFC M. Velasquez is investigating.
THEFT: Two 6 foot x 10 foot American flags were stolen from in front of Direct Mail on Ketch Road in Prince Frederick between August 13 and 14. Cpl. S. Parrish is investigating.
BURGLARY: Someone broke into a basement apartment in a home on Cedar Beach Drive in Prince Frederick on August 14 at around 11:00 a.m. The suspect(s) stole cash and prescription medication. Cpl. S. Parrish is investigating.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Someone caused $800 in damage to four lights around a model home on Sonoma Lane in Prince Frederick in the Kaine Homes subdivision between August 13 and 14. Cpl. S. Parrish is investigating.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Someone scratched the rear passenger door of a vehicle parked on 3rd Street in North Beach overnight between August 12 and 13 causing $100 in damage. DFC C. Johnson is investigating.
THEFT: Someone removed the Maryland State flag and the Calvert County flag from the flag pole in front of the Edward Hall Aquatic Center on Auto Drive in Prince Frederick between August 14 and 15. The flags are valued at $50 each. Cpl. R. Cox is investigating.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE: Unknown suspect(s) removed $670 worth of items from an unlocked vehicle parked outside a home on Dalton Trail in Lusby overnight between August 15 and 16. DFC A. Clas is investigating the theft of one RCA portable DVD player, a green and tan Dooney and Bourke wallet, a gray CD case with music CD's and cash and ID cards.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Unknown suspect(s) broke the side mirror off a vehicle parked outside a home on Dayton Avenue in North Beach sometime between August 15 and 16 causing $50 in damage. DFC C. Johnson is investigating this case.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Someone attempted to make entry into a home on Red Rock Court in Lusby during the daytime hours on August 17 by removing the screen to a window. It does not appear that entry was made. DFC J. Hardesty is investigating.
RABBIT RESCUE RAIDED: On July 24, the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Unit received information in reference to an alleged animal cruelty complaint. On August 8 at approximately 9:33 a.m., the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Unit with assistance from the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigative Team (CIT) executed a search warrant at 1309 Tongue Cove Lane in Lusby. The location is an animal rescue organization under the name of Bunny Magic. Upon arrival at the residence a practicing veterinarian out of St. Mary's County visually checked 265 rabbits located on the property.
During her initial exam, she advised that 222 rabbits needed to be seized due to poor living conditions and these rabbits would require further medical care. The 222 rabbits had been kept inside the residence and a one car garage. The remaining 43 rabbits were left on the scene. They appeared healthy and were in a separate and clean environment. The 222 rabbits seized were transported to the Tri-County Animal Shelter (TCAS) and will be held until a final disposition can be obtained. Possible criminal charges are pending.
