MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 6, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) has released the following incident and arrest reports.

SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: On August 4 at approximately 1:12 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Maryland Route 5, south of College Circle in Leonardtown, Maryland. Upon arrival, TFC M. Moore rendered aid to the injured, in one case, life saving first aid, until arrival of EMS personnel. Upon arrival, troopers located a 2006 Dodge Caravan, operated by Michael Joseph McAloon of Woodbine, Maryland. The Dodge Caravan was towing a utility trailer that became detached from the van. The trailer struck the guardrail and crossed the north and southbound lanes of Maryland Route 5 and struck three motorcycles before striking the guardrail on the southbound shoulder and coming to rest. Two motorcycle operators and one passenger were ejected from their vehicles. The operator of a 2010 Harley Davidson Cruiser, James Willard Dicarlo, of North Beach was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 to Baltimore Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries. The operator of a 2004 Harley Davidson Classic, Travis Eric Donbullian, of Chesapeake Beach was flown by Park Police Eagle 2 to Prince George's Hospital Center with serious injuries. The passenger, Janet Clair Steed, of Crofton was transported to St. Mary's Med-Star Hospital with non-life injuries. The operator of a 1995 Harley Davidson Classic, Brian Douglas Mansfield, of Huntingtown refused treatment on the scene. Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor in this motor vehicle collision. This investigation is continuing.

VIOLATION OF PROTECTIVE ORDER: On Monday, July 30, at 11:36pm, TFC E. Page conducted a traffic stop on a green Honda sedan in the area of the Mechanicsville Burchmart. Upon approaching the vehicle, TFC Page was able to positively identify the male operator as John Irvin Eberwein, 41, of Mechanicsville, and a juvenile occupant, 14, of Mechanicsville. A routine check revealed that Mr. Eberwein was the respondent of a Final Protective Order and was not to be alone with the juvenile occupant in his vehicle. Mr. Eberwein was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $1,000: On Tuesday, July 31, at 3:06pm, TFC B. Wiesemann responded to Food Lion, located on Point Lookout Road, in Callaway for a reported theft. Upon arrival, TFC Wiesemann made contact with a store employee, who stated that she was working a register and watched a female walk by all points of sale and exit the establishment with what appeared to be a full purse. The employee then made contact with the female outside, which was in possession of stolen food items from the store. The suspect's boyfriend also came into the store once his girlfriend was confronted, and admitted he was apart of the theft. TFC Wiesemann was able to positively identify both subjects as James Louis Clarke, 28, of Callaway, and Shannon Marie Hollingsworth, 27, of Lexington Park. After further investigation, both Clarke and Hollingsworth we arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. They were charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ROUGE AND VAGABOND: On Tuesday, July 31, at 3:11pm, TFC J. Pilkerton and Tpr. B. Weber responded to Walden Sierra located on FDR Boulevard on Lexington Park for a possible breaking and entering into a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, TFC Pilkerton and Tpr. Weber made contact with the female complainant, 21, of Leonardtown. She advised that when she exited the establishment, there was a male sitting in her car and going through her things. TFC Pilkerton and Tpr. Weber made contact with the male subject, who was positively identified as Thomas Leroy Taylor, 52, of Lexington Park. After talking to the complainant and Mr. Taylor, TFC Pilkerton and Tpr. Weber arrested Taylor for Rouge and Vagabond. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Tuesday, July 31, at 6:00pm, TFC B. Wiesemann served a Bench Warrant (T3-15513) on Robert Michael Bice, Jr., of Port Republic. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Theft Less Than $100 on May 22. Mr. Bice turned himself into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Wednesday, July 25, at 9:15am, Cpl. P. Trossbach served a Bench Warrant (T3-15602) on Oscar Taft Nicholson, 4th, 41, of Lusby. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Driving While Suspended on July, 18. Mr. Nicholson was located and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Thursday, July 26, at 12:37am, TFC J. Gibson responded to the 36000 block of Owens Drive, located in Bushwood, for reported property destruction. Upon arrival, TFC Gibson made contact with the complainant, 55, from Virginia. She advised that she heard loud noises and upon further investigation saw the bay window at the residence to be shattered. TFC noticed the damage to the window as well as damage to a black Volvo sedan in the driveway. After speaking to the complainant and to a female subject who was staying at the house, TFC Gibson was able to get a possible vehicle and suspect name of Charles William Cox, III, 32, of Colton Point. Upon arrival at Mr. Cox's residence, TFC Gibson noticed that the suspect vehicle was in the driveway and Mr. Cox was in the residence. Further investigation led to Mr. Cox being arrested for Malicious Destruction of Property. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, July 26, at 8:37am, TFC R. Jackson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15606) on Karen Anne Granville, 23, of Mechanicsville. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Assault Second Degree on July 18. Ms. Granville was located at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. She was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Friday, July 27 at 5:35 am, TFC J. Gibson served a Bench Warrant (T3-15603) on Robert Scott Slaughter, 41, of Mechanicsville. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County with an original charge of Knowingly Driving an Uninsured Vehicle on July 18. Mr. Slaughter was located and served at the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, July 29, at 6:25am, Tpr. D. Buckalew was in the area of Great Mills Road and South Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park. Tpr. Buckalew noticed a male subject standing next to his vehicle appearing to be getting sick. Upon arrival on scene the male subject was back in his vehicle. Tpr. Buckalew positively identified the male subject as Patrick Cody Rawlings, 24, of Brandywine. Mr. Rawlings stated he wasn't feeling well, so Tpr. Buckalew had EMS respond to the scene. While talking to Mr. Rawlings, Tpr. Buckalew detected the odor of fresh CDS emitting from he vehicle. While Mr. Rawling was seeking the help of EMS, Tpr. Buckalew conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, resulting with both CDS and CDS Paraphernalia being recovered. Mr. Rawlings was arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. He was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
