LEONARDTOWN, Md.—St. Mary's County Library Director Kathleen Reif has announced the promotion of Amy Ford to the position of Branch Manager at the Charlotte Hall Library, effective July 16, 2012. Ford had been the supervisor of adult services at the Lexington Park library.
"Amy has the very rare combination of excellent technical skills and people skills," said Reif. "We are very fortunate to have such a superb professional develop within our own library system. I am absolutely certain that the customer services at Charlotte Hall will continue to excel under her leadership."
Ford will receive her Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Alabama in December. She is a graduate of the College of William and Mary with a double major in English and philosophy and a graduate of the Maryland Library Leadership Institute. Before joining St. Mary's County Library in 2003, she worked for Charles County Public Library.
Ford serves as the library's liaison for two state teams, AskUsNow and Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium. Since 2003 she has been reviewing literary fiction for Library Journal.
"I'm excited to have a new role in providing exceptional library experiences for St. Mary's County citizens," said Ford. "I look forward to this new challenge and to working with the great staff at Charlotte Hall library."
Not only is Ford looking forward to her new role as branch manager, but also to her new role as a mother. She and her husband, Bill Connelly, are expecting their first child in October.
