7-year-old Dies in 3 Car Crash Caused by Alcohol-impaired Driver


LA PLATA, Md.—Maryland State Police report that a 7 year-old child perished in a 3 car accident in Charles County Sunday afternoon. Three other people, including the 73-year-old driver who caused the accident who police say was under the influence of alcohol, were transported to area hospitals.

Around 3:21 p.m., troopers from the La Plata Barrack responded to northbound 210 at Lewis Drive in Bryans Road for a fatal motor vehicle collision. Investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Jackson Tutt, 73, of Fort Washington, was traveling southbound on 210 at Lewis Place. The Tahoe traveled into the median and then struck the left rear passenger side of a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was traveling north on 210. The Tahoe then sideswiped a Nissan Altima that was traveling north on 210.

The child, Jan-nae Alicia Woodard, of Waldorf, was a passenger in the Nissan Altima, which was operated by Marquetta Rochelle McGee, 36, of Waldorf. McGee was transported by helicopter to PG Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer was operated by William Green, 60, of Indian Head. Mr. Green received no injuries. An unidentified female passenger was transported to Fort Washington Hospital by ambulance.

Police list the determining factor in the crash as "Fail to drive in a single lane, Alcohol."
