MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 4, 2012)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, May 31 at 2:40am, Tpr. D. Buckalew conducted a traffic stop on a black Hyundai in the area of Great Mills Road and Tri Community Way in Lexington Park for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, contact was made with the operator of the vehicle Kyle Robert Henry, 22, of Lexington Park. While speaking with Mr. Henry observed in plain view was a small baggie containing CDS located on the rear driver's side seat. Following the arrival of a back up unit, a search of Mr. Henry and an additional occupant of the vehicle was conducted. No additional CDS or paraphernalia were found on the subjects. Ownership of the CDS was determined and subsequently Mr. Henry was arrested for Possession of CDS - Marijuana. Mr. Henry was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Thursday, May 31 at 6:58am, TFC M. J. Pitcher attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white Pontiac in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Abell Street for a traffic violation, however, the vehicle did not pull over immediately. The vehicle made several turns before coming to a stop in the 41000 block of Charles Street in Leonardtown. TFC Pitcher immediately attempted to make contact with the vehicle once it came to a stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, he observed the occupant to be holding a handful of pills and refusing to exit the vehicle. The subject, later identified as Dale William Poe, Jr., 23, of Mechanicsville, ultimately exited the vehicle at the insistence of TFC Pitcher and was detained. Observed in plain view once Mr. Poe exited the vehicle was CDS - Xanax on the driver's seat. A search of the vehicle revealed additional CDS Paraphernalia, and a NCIC/METERS query revealed that Mr. Poe was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and vehicle registration. Mr. Poe was subsequently arrested and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT UNDER $100: On Thursday, May 31 at 11:09pm, Tpr. D. Buckalew responded to the Wal-Mart located on Miramar Way in California for a reported theft. Upon arrival, contact was made with Loss Prevention staff who advised that two females were observed in various areas of the retail store concealing items on their person. One female, later identified as Danielle Lynn Hayes, 34, of Port Republic, was observed exiting the store without purchasing the merchandise and was subsequently followed by Loss Prevention to the parking lot. Following contact with Ms. Hayes, a second suspect, a juvenile female, 17, of Prince Frederick, exited the store and responded to the same vehicle Ms. Hayes was located at. Tpr. Buckalew then made contact with the suspects, and retrieved the items that were in their possession. The items were returned to Loss Prevention Staff and the both subjects were charged with Theft Less Than $100.00. Ms. Hayes was issued a Criminal Citation with a mandatory court date prior to being released from the scene. The female juvenile was transported to the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack where she was processed and released to a guardian pending further action by Juvenile Services.

DRUG ARREST: On Friday, June 1 at 7:09am, TFC G. A. Thompson initiated a traffic stop on a red Acura in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Maryland Route 6 for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, TFC Thompson immediately detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. TFC Thompson notified the driver, Joseph David Lucente, 26, of Charlotte Hall of his observation and advised him a Probable Cause Search would be conducted on the vehicle. While speaking with Mr. Lucente information was provided regarding the location of CDS Paraphernalia in the vehicle. The CDS Paraphernalia was located, and Mr. Lucente was arrested for Possession of CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. The Probable Cause search of the vehicle revealed no additional items. Mr. Lucente was issued a Criminal Citation and mandatory court date prior to being released from the scene.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Sunday, June 3 at 9:00pm, TFC J. S. Gibson served an outstanding Arrest Warrant (T3-15523) on Keith Marcel Campbell, 27, of La Plata. The warrant was issued by the District Court of St. Mary's County on May 24 with an original charge of Second Degree Assault. Mr. Campbell was located on a traffic stop and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
