Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (May 31, 2012)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

BURGLARY: On May 30 between 1 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 10600 block of Village Drive in La Plata and stole a long gun and jewelry. PFC W. Dennin is investigating.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLES: Between May 29 - May 30, unknown suspect (s) broke into cars in the parking lot of several businesses along the 2700 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf and stole wheels, stereos and other items. Officers canvassed the area for witnesses and recovered evidence from the scene. Pfc. R. Bagley is investigating.

BURGLARY: On May 30 at 8:35 a.m., a homeowner reported unknown suspect(s) broke into a shed in the 7900 block of Mason Springs Road in La Plata and stole farm tools. Officers canvassed the area for witnesses and processed the scene for evidence. Officer P. McDonald is investigating.

MAN CHARGED WITH POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE HEROIN: On May 29 at 11:05 p.m., officers responded to the 3200 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a suspicious subject. Upon arrival, officers observed Eugene Raymond Dahlstedt, 50, of White Plains, throw several packages of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia on the ground. Dahlstedt was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs. Officer R. Forbes made the arrest.

TEENS CHARGED WITH FIRING BB GUN AT PEOPLE: On May 29 at 2:58 p.m., officers responded to Hampshire Recreation Center in Waldorf for the report of several teenagers driving through the area firing a BB gun; two people reported being struck. Officers obtained a description of the suspect's car and located the vehicle on Stanford Place. The suspects, ages 12, 15, 16, and 18, were identified as being involved. The 16-year-old and 18-year-old were arrested and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault. Charges are pending against the other suspects. Neither victim needed medical treatment.
