Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (May 23, 2012)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office has released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES: Between May 20 - May 21, during the overnight hours, unknown suspect(s) stole wheels and rims from a pick-up truck in the 4700 block of Jay Bird Court in Waldorf. In addition, the suspect(s) attempted to steal the wheels and rims from a truck in the 2900 block of Marsh Hawk Drive but fled the area before completing the theft. Cpl. J. Murphy is investigating.

HATE CRIME/ DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Between May 18 - May 21, unknown suspect (s) wrote ethnic slurs on the side of a house under construction in the 5500 block of Fish Hawk Court in Waldorf. Officers canvassed the area for witnesses and processed the scene for evidence. Anyone with information is asked to call the Charles County Sheriff's Office at (301) 932-2222. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Officer P. DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On May 17 at 12:17 a.m., unknown suspect(s) threw a brick through the front window of a business in the 2200 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. According to the business owners, nothing appeared to have been stolen. Officer A. Fenlon is investigating.

BURGLARY: Between May 16 - May 17, unknown suspect(s) broke into a tire shop in the 100 block of St. Patrick's Drive in Waldorf and stole a small amount of money. Officers processed the scene for evidence. PFC J. Williams is investigating.

ATTEMPT THEFT: On May 16 between 5:50 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) removed the lug nuts off the wheels of an SUV at the Mattawoman Beantown Road Park and Ride in Waldorf. It appears the suspects were in the process of removing the wheels but fled prior to taking them. No other vehicles were tampered with. PFC L. Sershen is investigating.
