LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 18, 2012)The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division has released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Marys County Sheriffs Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division, and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Marys County.
CRACK COCAINE DISTRIBUTION: Vice Narcotics detectives indicted Lisa Marie Tippett, 46, of Lexington Park, for conspiring with others to distribute crack cocaine. She was originally held without bond.
MARIJUANA SALES @SMCM: Vice Narcotics detectives assisted other detectives with a reported armed robbery that occurred at St. Mary's College. During the investigation it was determined that the original complaint was a false report and was actually a drug deal gone bad. As the drug-related aspect of the investigation continued, narcotics detectives discovered that the orginal complainant, Adam Brandt Byerly, 19, of Baltimore, and a co-conspirator were distributing marijuana. A search revealed a quantity of marijuana which indicated the intent to distribute. An additional arrest is expected.
PRESCRIPTION & INSURANCE FRAUD: Andrew Tkaczuk, 27, was indicted by Vice Narcotics detectives for multiple counts to include prescription fraud and insurance fraud. He was arrested in El Paso, Texas and was extradited back to the State of Maryland. He was subsequently released after his initial appearance in the Circuit Court.
DISTRIBUTION OF OXYCODONE: Benjamin Steele Coe, 26, of Mechanicsville, was arrested on an open grand jury indictment for Distribution of Oxycodone. A search subsequent to that arrest revealed various multiple prescription pills to include Oxycodone.
CONSPIRACY TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO JAIL: Leigh Anne Wathen, 30, of Hollywood, was indicted for her role in attempting to provide controlled substances to an inmate in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
