ALEXANDRIA, Va. (May 16, 2012)—DCS Corp announced today that the company was awarded the Navy Weaponeering and Stores Planning (WASP) Delivery Order (DO) under the U.S. Air Force's Mission Planning Enterprise Contract (MPEC) II, which provides aircraft mission planning systems for the United States Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps. Work on the WASP delivery order will occur over a two-year period and is valued at approximately $5.8 million.
WASP is the primary mission planning application for United States Navy and Marine Corps F/A-18 aircraft interdiction missions and other missions involving air-to-surface weapons. The software enables pilots to select the most effective weapons to use against a target and assists the pilot to formulate safe aircraft load plans and safe delivery and escape plans for each weapon release.
The MPEC II WASP DO allows DCS to continue to support the Naval Air Systems Command's PMA-281 in fielding mission planning solutions to naval aviators. DCS has performed WASP software development on predecessor contracts since 1989.
"I congratulate the WASP team on this most recent win under the MPEC contract," said Dave Russell, President and Chief Operating Officer. "Due to the hard work and focus on customer satisfaction that our employee-owners offer, DCS has successfully achieved wins on MPEC delivery orders as the prime contractor and as a subcontractor. We look forward to our continued support of these mission planning programs."
Work awarded under the delivery order will be performed in Lexington Park, MD, by DCS's Decision Support Division, whose software engineering processes are rated as CMMI Maturity Level 3.
The MPEC II contract provides future mission planning software development, maintenance, and integration to the Department of Defense Mission Planning Enterprise. The enterprise encompasses partnering organizations in the US Air Force, Navy, Army, and Special Operations Command. The total value of the multiple-award contract is up to approximately $920M over 10 years.
